Weekly Updates:

Congratulations go out to all of our Fourth Grade Spelling Bee participants! We would like to extend a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to AHMAD ALMUAALA for winning our annual Spelling Bee. He will go on to compete in the District Spelling Bee on February 4th at Fort Settlement Middle School in Sugarland.

Science Fair:

Thanks to all of you who have been supporting our students in their efforts to get their science fair projects started. We will have a Science Fair project check in on this coming Thursday and Friday. Students are asked to bring drafts of what they have completed so far. Everything will be returned by Friday, January 13th so that students can add final materials. The presentation of the board and the “write ups” are huge factors that the judges consider. Even if students are not competing, their projects are expected to neat, organized, and have no spelling or grammar errors. Final projects are due at the end of January.

• Science Fair Materials: Students must have a science fair notebook to accompany their project. This information is included in the Science Fair packet that was sent out last month. You have the option of purchasing a notebook, such as a composition notebook or spiral, or you can have your child to make one with construction paper and some lined/graph paper on the inside. We have materials for making science fair notebooks at school, please remind your child that this notebook can be created at school to cut down costs.

A Note from the Teachers:

Absences:

When your child is absent from school please email attendancepe@ and let the attendance clerk (Barbara Shaver) know the reason for the absence. Or email the doctors note if possible, but you no longer have to email the homeroom teacher regarding the reason for the absence.

Family Access:

Do you want to be able to know your child’s progress before progress reports go home?

Would you like to know your child’s meal balance?

Would you like to have the convenience of paying your child’s meal balance online instead of sending a check to school?

You can do all of these things through Family Access.  If you need more information on how to login to family access, please contact our ADA clerk, Barbara Shaver, at (281) 634-4776 and she will be glad to assist you.

We love celebrating our Palmer Bears! Please note that if you would like to recognize your student’s birthday at school, you can deliver store bought cookies or cupcakes (1 per student) to the front office and they will be served in your student’s classroom by your student’s teacher at the end of the instructional day. Students are not to carry in their own cookies or cupcakes because parents are required to fill out an ingredient form upon delivery at the front office. Please note: No other items, to include drinks, goodie bags, balloons, flowers, etc. be delivered for birthdays.
