I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Augusta State University and a Master of Education degree in Early Childhood Education from Troy State University. I am honored to be your child’s kindergarten teacher. I have been a classroom teacher for 20 years. I have taught grades K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Your child will meet new friends and gain new learning experiences this year in kindergarten. To make these experiences really count, your child will need reinforcement at home. Studies have now shown that children who receive POSITIVE help from home will score above the level they would have achieved without that help. This year, I am going to help you keep in touch with our classroom activities as they happen. Each week, I will send home with your child, a homework packet that should be returned on Friday. Additionally, I will send home special projects throughout the year. The homework will be checked on Friday. The homework folder needs to be checked by you every night. Your child’s behavior grade will also be located in the homework folder. Please sign in the correct box and discuss any concerns you may have with your child and/or me, Ms. Reeves. Students will receive a grade for homework and behavior on his/her report card. Please read over the student/parent handbook. It will answer most of the questions that you may have about later arrival, absences, etc. Students will always need a note if they are leaving early, changing buses, or absent. I am looking forward to getting better acquainted and helping to make this year an exciting one for you and your child. Parents, please remember a little help from home goes a long way towards your child’s success later on in life. Thank you in advance for your support and cooperation. If your desire a conference, you can reach me by calling the office at (706) 821-2766. I can also be reached by email at ReeveSh@boe.richmond.k12.ga.us Sincerely, Ms. Reeves?CLASS PROCEDURES:FOLDERSPlease sign the Weekly Progress Report and the Stapled Papers!!!! Your child will have a clip on a chart that he/she will physically move up or down the chart, depending on his/her choices. Please keep in mind that your child may not move every single day. Remaining on green (Let’s Rock N’ Roll) throughout the day represents a great day! In order to move up, students must go above and beyond in their behavior choices. The chart below explains how the clip chart works. I believe that this system will be a positive way for students to monitor their choices and will give them behavior goals to strive for! As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me! Thank you!PinkYou’re a Rock StarStudents who reach the pink level will be rewarded for their positive choices by adding a star to their chart. 5 stars =a treat from the prize box… Woo-hoo!PurpleYou’re Going to Be Famous!Great Choice! Students can “clip up” or “clip down” throughout the day depending on their behavior choices.YellowStill Rockin’ OutStudents who receive a second warning will move to yellow.
