Genetics Research Project

For this assignment, you will prepare a 3 - 5 minute presentation about one of the following topics:

a specific genetic disorder, its symptoms, prognosis, and treatments/research being done on the disorder

OR

current research on one topic in the field of genetic engineering

The presentation should include:

For Genetic Disorders:

1. Description of the disorder, including its detection, symptoms, prognosis, treatments currently being uses, and research being don about the disorder.

2. Any unfamiliar terminology should be defined.

3. Researchers names and locations (e.g. Drs. Good and Howell at the University of Minnesota) should be included.

Important Points for the Presentation:

The presentations will be graded on thoroughness, understandability, and speaking skills.

Visuals are not necessary, but may add to the understandability of the presentation

A printed reference page must be handed in with the presentation

You may include a quiz for understanding as part of your presentation, but this must be prepared in advance.

It is recommended that note cards be used and that you practice the presentation in advance. Simply reading the report should be avoided.

This can be fun and interesting. Make it so.
