Paragraph #3 – Development of point 2 in TS

Paragraph #4 – Development of point 3 in TS

Paragraph #5 – Conclusion

Requirements

* Essays must be double spaced

* Essays may not exceed two (2) type-written pages

* Essays must be done in size 12 font and either Times, New Roman, or Arial styles

* Essays should be based on the text and class discussion (no citations)

Grading Scale:

Each paragraph is worth 20 points

Paragraph # 1:

10 points - Effective introduction of topic

➢ History

➢ Background

➢ Opposing viewpoints

10 points - Thesis Statement

➢ Underlined

➢ Containing three (3) "valid" points to support your position

Paragraphs #2, #3, #4: 20 point each

➢ Effective discussion and development of points presented in Thesis Statement

➢ 2-3 arguments must be included to support your thesis in each paragraph

Paragraph #5: 20 points

➢ Summary and restatement of points presented throughout your paper in the tone of a persuasive argument recognizing that you have proved your thesis statement

Grammatical Errors:

FIVE (5) additional points will be deducted from your grade if more than TWO (2) grammatical errors are made in your essay.
