The USA is the FOURTH/ 4TH largest country in the world (after Russia, Canada and China). It is located in the SOUTH of the North-American CONTINENT. It borders on MEXICO in the south and Canada in the NORTH.

The USA is a federation of FIFTY/ 50 states and one federal DISTRICT (the capital city, Washington, D. C.). Two US states, ALASKA and the HAWAIIAN Islands lie outside the mainland. The official head of state is President (BARACK) OBAMA. Its population is over 315 MILLION inhabitants. The currency unit is 1 US DOLLAR.

The American FLAG is called Stars and Stripes. We can find there FIFTY/ 50 white stars (each symbolizing one US state) in a dark-blue field in the left upper corner and THIRTEEN/ 13 red and white stripes (each symbolizing the original colonies).
