Scavenger Hunt

Standards:

o Students will demonstrate knowledge of the 50 states and capitals.

o Students will locate places using map skills (scale, cardinal directions, latitude and longitude, etc.)

o Students will gather facts from a broad range of reading materials.

o Students will solve problems using number facts and operations.

o Students will actively listen and give appropriate feedback.

o Students will recognize and appreciate different ideas.

o Students will search for valuable and appropriate information on the Internet.

Task: Using the clues given to you and your partner, follow the steps and see where you end up! You may use the Internet, maps, and your Social Studies book to help you with your search. Make sure you fill out the “Scavenger Hunt” worksheet along the way to track your progress!

Process: You have been given a list of clues that will lead you around the United States. Using the clues, you and your partner need to find your way to the ending location and the special prize that waits there for you. You must document your journey and sources used on the “Scavenger Hunt” worksheet. Remember, you can use the Internet, maps, and your Social Studies textbook to help you! Be sure to fill out a “How Did My Partner Do?” form! And most importantly, come to claim your prize when you’re finished!
