From Principal:

♦ Friday is the end of the first quarter. I hope that each of you met your academic goals. If not, the second quarter starts on Monday and is a perfect opportunity to set new goals and to strive to reach them. If you need additional assistance we offer up afterschool study hall Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or ask your teachers for help.

♦ Federal Impact Aid cards are now PAST due. If NOT turned in by this Friday you will receive lunch detention. Still waiting on a winner.

 

From Asst. Principal:

♦ The Harvest Dance is in a few weeks. A few reminders: If you have had all-day in-house suspension, suspension to home, or tardies and/or absences 80% and over since September 8th, or received an “F” on 1st quarter report card, 1 U or 2 N’s and 10 demerits; then you are ineligible to attend this dance. Also, all responsibilities (i.e., café fees, library fees and books, demerits) must be cleared by Friday , October 27th to attend this dance.

 

From Counselor:

♦ Youth Advisory Committee will meet on Wednesday. Meet Ms. Bailey outside by the gate at 11:45

♦ 1st quarter Kevin McCarthy awards will be coming soon. A list will be posted in the cafeteria, sometime in the next week. You can collect your award in the front office by Mrs. Halterman’s desk. Congrats!

 

From Cafeteria:

♦ National School Lunch week is this week. The theme this year is “Recipes for Success ”. There will be Trivia questions each day with special prizes on Friday.

♦ Recipe cards for Personal Success were handed out last week. Please fill in your four ingredients to personal success in the provided recipe card and return to the cafeteria.

♦ Tuesday- purchase a lunch and receive a treat.

♦ Wednesday - Staff will work in food lines. Help is needed 10:40-10:50 and 11:40-11:50.

♦  Thursday - staff and parents are invited to eat with students ($3.75). The menu is Teriyaki Chicken with rice, or Chicken Nuggets with rice and fresh Salads will be available as well.

 

From ASB:

♦ Hope you had an awesome long weekend. ASB is going to have and awesome class competition this week; to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness month. It will be pretty and pink, so get ready to glam up with this class competition. Make sure to sign up in room 15 or at your lunch.

♦ On Thursday, wear orange. During 1st period all students will receive an orange ribbon to tie around their index finger. Students wearing orange will be released after attendance to meet Mrs. Abshire out on the quad for a picture.

♦ Wear your apron on Friday.

 

From Music Department:

♦ Concert Orchestra/Band/Choir Fall Concert, Tuesday at 7 p.m., in cafeteria.

♦ The Beginning Orchestra will perform during 2nd period, on Friday in the cafeteria. Woodwind and Brass Bands will perform concerts during classes on Friday in room 54.

 

From Yearbook:

♦ Attention 8th Graders: Please bring your baby pictures to Mrs. Abshire to be put in the yearbook as soon as possible. Pictures are due by Friday, October 20th. Make sure your name is on your picture.

 

From Site Council:

♦ Congratulations to the following students that were nominated this year to be a part of Murray Site Council. They are 6th grade, McKayla Press and Andrew Quackenbush; 7th grade, Priscilla Parks and Lance St. Clair and 8th grade, Lesly Hernandez and Jacinto Cornejo.

♦ Our first Site Council meeting will be next Thursday October 19th, during 5th Lunch. Students will receive reminder passes before lunch.

 

From Basketball:

♦ Sign-ups will begin in a few weeks. Eligibility will be determined by 1st Quarter grades.

♦ Eligibility requirements are: 2.0 GPA and no more than 1 N and no U’s in citizenship.

 

From Rachel’s Challenge:

♦ Tuesday, we have a Rachel’s Link Meeting in room 45 during 4th lunch, and room 15 during 5th lunch. Make sure to be there at 10:45 for 4th lunch and at 11:45 for 5th lunch.
