B 86-83% D 66-63%

B- 82-80% D- 62-60%

C+ 79-77% F 59% and below

Your grade will be based on total points then computed into a percent. Example, a student earning 525 out of 600 possible points earns an 88% B+.

Participation/ Behavior Points: Participation/ Behavior Points will be awarded as follows: 2 points per class period, 1 point for bringing all materials to class, and 1 point for proper behavior.

Pink Slips: A pink slip will be issued to students who do not complete/ turn-in an assignment. After 2 pink slips an OOPS! Note will be sent home, and 3 pink slips will result in an after school detention. The student will be given a detention for each pink slip received after the third (3rd ) one.

Vocabulary Assignments: Each chapter the students will be given a vocabulary assignment in which they must copy the definitions exactly from the glossary or no credit will be given. Then they will use the word in a sentence and show their understanding of the word. This assignment is graded in this way to ensure the students will learn to: follow directions, pay attention to details, and to check their work before they turn it in. These are necessary skills to learn, not only as a student, but in life as well.

Notebooks: Each student will be required to keep all assignments in a folder and in the order in which they are received or a list given by the teacher. Every quarter (may be more often) they will be collected and graded for accuracy. This will be a significant part of their Social Studies grade. This helps the students with their organizational skills.

Reading Requirements: (All rules, procedures, expectations will be the same)

❖ Reading assignments may be completed in blue/black ink or pencil. Put your name, hour, date, and the title of your assignment on all work. Work should be legible and neat.

❖ Short answer responses will need to be in complete sentences. Students who do not restate and use complete sentences will not be given credit for their answer.

❖ Students will be required to complete AR test as 20% of their reading grade. Students who score below 70% on an AR test will be required to complete a book report after rereading their AR book.

❖ Each quarter students will complete a book report project. A list of books will be given for students to choose from. These projects will be worth 50 points.

I have read the above syllabus and agree to follow the rules and procedures that it outlines.
