Objective: The student working individually or in small groups will develop a PowerPoint presentation with a minimum of 6 slides demonstrating the ecological effects of a type of natural disaster (tornado, hurricane, drought, etc.)

Preparing the PowerPoint presentation:

• Open PowerPoint

• Chose the option to make a blank presentation.

• In the new slide window that comes up, pick an AutoLayout (This is the basic design of the slide. You may want to have students use a particular one you chose, so that their presentations can be put together later making a large, uniform appearance presentation.)

• Use the resources below to find information to incorporate into the presentation.

• Have the students ‘turn in’ their presentations to their server spaces so they may be accessed digitally later.

Resources:

• Nature’s Fury

• Understanding Droughts

• National Geographic’s Expedition Hall (see V Environment and Society in the layout of the hall)

• Natural Disaster Reference Database from NASA

• Natural Disasters – information from ThinkQuest
