Congratulations on your purchase of the AlkaCharger. The AlkaCharger has been designed to give you more use out of your battery purchases. Alkaline batteries can be recharged several times (3-5) before they should be discarded. Carefully read this manual before operating the AlkaCharger so that you become familiar with its operation procedures.

The AlkaCharger comes with:

• 1 AlkaCharger with attached test probe

• 1 AC adapter

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

The AlkaCharger recharges regular Alkaline (non-rechargeable), Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH), Nickel-Cadmium, Titanium and RAM (Rechargeable Alkaline Manganese) batteries. It holds up to six D cells, six C cells, ten AA cells, ten AAA cells, and two 9V batteries at the same time.

Place the AlkaCharger on a dry, flat surface away from heat or open flame. Plug the AC adapter into the unit and then into any standard 110-volt wall outlet. The green charging light will illuminate. Warning: Only use the adapter supplied with the AlkaCharger. Using another adapter could damage the unit.

Insert your batteries, the positive side (+) down and the negative (-) side up, into the appropriate slots. Both contacts (+ and -) should be clean and dry before you place them in the AlkaCharger. Be sure to fit the batteries into the correct slot made for that batteries size.

9-Volt: Fit the large contact into the large hole and the small contact into the small hole.

When you have loaded all the batteries you want to charge (it is not necessary to fill up every slot) close the lid making sure both latches are locked completely. If you are having difficulty shutting the lid, check to make sure all the batteries and the test probe are inserted correctly. Warning: If the batteries are put in the slots the wrong direction, you may damage the batteries or the AlkaCharger and void your warranty.

To open, use two fingers to push the tabs in and then pull the lid open.

CHARGING YOUR BATTERIES

For best results, recharge your batteries in the AlkaCharger for a minimum of three (3) days. Note: Heavily discharged batteries need to be charged for about five (5) days. It will not harm the batteries if they are left charging for a longer period of time.

Since the AlkaCharger is also meant for battery storage, you can leave batteries in their slots, with the power left on, indefinitely. This way, your batteries will always be refreshed and ready for you when you need them. If you unplug the power to the AlkaCharger, leave the lid open or remove your batteries to ensure that any stored batteries are not discharged.

TESTING YOUR BATTERIES

To test your batteries before using them, apply the test probe firmly to the negative (-) side of the battery (top) while it is still in the AlkaCharger. The green light indicates that the battery is fully charged or almost fully charged. The yellow light indicates that the battery is still charging. The red light indicates that the battery is too discharged to successfully be recharged again. At this point the battery should be discarded.

HELPFUL HINTS FOR REGULAR ALKALINE BATTERY

Best results are obtained when the batteries are recharged before they are totally discharged. A totally discharged battery can not be charged again. Store your batteries in the AlkaCharger in between uses to keep them refreshed and to extend their life.

Alkaline batteries can be recharged several times (3-5) before they should be discarded. They will not perform as well as new fresh batteries and their capacity will reduce after each subsequent charge, but their life can be prolonged, providing you with useful power for many devices and saving on the cost of buying new batteries.

CAUTION:

• Only plug the AlkaCharger into 110-volt wall outlets.

• Make sure the batteries' polarity is facing the correct direction (positive side (+) down and negative (-) side up). Reversed batteries may damage the AlkaCharger.

• DO NOT attempt to charge corroded, leaking or damaged batteries.

• DO NOT expose the unit to water, high humidity, high heat, or dusty areas.

• DO NOT touch leaking battery electrolyte. If you find a battery that is leaking, immediately place the battery in a bag or other empty container and dispose of it properly. If you do touch the battery electrolyte, flush your skin, eyes, or clothes with cool water.

• DO NOT attempt to take apart or repair the AlkaCharger. Doing so will void the warranty.
