Christ, hear us.Christ, graciously here us.3.May our hearts seek that unity of faith desired by Jesus,so that all Christians will reverence the gift of life, and hold as sacred that of the sick and dying, the frail and aged.Christ, hear us. Christ, graciously here us.4.May we learn how to ‘encounter people as and where that are’on this World Day of Social Communications, so that in the wisdom of social distancing during the pandemic, we can see and encounter each other in new ways which will lead to Jesus,Christ, hear us.Christ, graciously here us.5.May (tomorrow’s) (today’s) procession in honour of Mary, Health of the Roman People, draw us together across the Archdiocese and the world,in one common prayer for healing, peace, encouragement and solidarity,as we seek Mary’s help this month during the pandemic.Christ, hear us.Christ, graciously hear us.6.May the present violence between the Israeli and Palestinian peoplesin Jerusalem and across the Holy Land, be resolved by a genuine dialogue based on justice and respect, so that there is peace for everyone.Christ, hear us.Christ, graciously hear us.7.May the many girls and other people killed by the bomb blast in Kabul in Afghanistan last week, along with those killed in Gaza, in the Holy land enter into that place where our Ascended Lord reigns.We also remember . . .Christ, hear usChrist, graciously hear us. We pray that the ministry of Pope Francis may have the support of every person who carries the Name of Jesus in their heart, especially as we mark this week honouring his universal letter on the environment.Christ, hear us.We pray that the dialogue between the Catholic and theOrthodox Churches may bear much fruit in our time,and lead to a full communion which can be expressedin offering the Eucharist at the one table.Christ, hear us.We pray for those who are prisoners because of their faith, as was St Paul long ago, that those in authority will treat them with justice.Christ, hear us.We pray that the example of St Bernardine of Siena, who at the age of twenty, dedicated himself heroically to caring for those with the plague in the 15th century, will encourage doctors, nurses and chaplains, who today spend their energy in the care of people with Covid 19.
