You will show the feeding relationships between organisms in the ecosystem by making a food web. In addition, you will also specifically describe an organism at each trophic level that lives in your ecosystem. You will have some class time to work on the project as a group, but you will need to use some out of class time if needed. (Suggestion: Partner up to split the presentation, then sends one person all of the slides of the presentation). You will give an oral presentation of your ecosystem to the class after Thanksgiving Break. Each group MUST email me ONE final powerpoint presentation by Saturday, November 28! Write your ecosystem, people in your group, and period #)Group Project RequirementPowerPoint Presentation:Oral Presentation of your ecosystem: be prepared to describe your ecosystem, explain your food web, and describe the four specific organisms (trophic level, name, population size, niche & habitat, suited to environment). Your group will be grading on eye contact, volume, rate, body language, fluency, preparedness, etc.Hand-Drawn and Colored Picture on Poster Picture, depicting your ecosystem and its organisms.PowerPoint REQUIREMENTS:Slide 1: Identify your Biome/ Ecosystem and Picture (and Names of People in your group)Slide 2: Explain your EcosystemSlide 3: Display map location of your biome and where is could we find your Ecosystem (Regions/ Countries)?Slide 4: Describe the Geography of your Ecosystem (mountains/flat/ aquatic/ dry/ any unique characteristics)Slide 5: Describe the Climate of the Ecosystem (temperature, weather, precipitations, seasons, amount of sunlight)Slide 6: Explain the abiotic characteristics of your Ecosystem (soil texture, amount of water, vegetation, atmosphere) and anything about the surface of the Ecosystem.Slide 7: Briefly explain the biotic characteristics of your EcosystemSlide 8: List out Producers, Primary Consumers, Secondary & Higher Consumers, Decomposers(For Slides 9-12) Explain Trophic level (give trophic level & tell what it eats or if it is from a seed in the ecosystem)Name of organismExplain brief characteristics of the organism.Population size of the speciesNiche and Habitat (what does it do & where exactly does it live – how does it fit into your ecosystem – how does it interact with others)How is it suited to its environment? (adaptations it has for the physical conditions of the environment)Slide 9: Explain in details about the Producer in your EcosystemSlide 10: Explain in details about the Primary Consumers in your EcosystemSlide 11: Explain in details about the Secondary Consumers EcosystemSlide 12: Explain in details about the organisms that would be Highest Consumer (top organism/ that is not a human) in your Ecosystem (Next page)Slide 13: Briefly explain the effect of humans on the environmentSlide 14: Explain the importance of relationships seen in ecosystems (include food chain/ food web/ dependability/ competition/ cause-and-effect relationships allow you to make predictions of how an event will affect an ecosystem) Also explain what will happen if one of the organism in the relationship left the ecosystem (either by extinction or removal).Slide 15: Any other fun/ interesting thing about your Ecosystems*You may have more slides if necessary if it benefits your presentation. You will also be graded on:At least one picture from each slide.Graphics & captions support topic clearly (text clear in size and color) Accurate & correctly spelled information (include keywords: organism, abiotic factor, producer, consumer, herbivore, carnivore, omnivore, decomposer, food chain) Group showed cooperationGrading Rubric for Organisms Interactions in Ecosystem Powerpoint ProjectECOSYTEMPoster/Drawing10 pts________Title of Ecosystem/ Presenters Names3 pts________Explain Ecosystem 3 pts________Map/ Location 3 pts________Geography 3 pts________Climate 3 pts________Abiotic Characteristics 3 pts________Biotic Characteristics 3 pts________Explaining of the Community and the Tropic Levels 3 pts________Explain the Producer 3 pts________Explain the Primary Consumer 3 pts________Explain the Secondary Consumer 3 pts________Explain the Highest Consumer 3 pts________Human’s impact on the Environment 3 pts________Relationships seen in ecosystemInteresting Facts of the Ecosystem3 pts________At least one picture with captions from each slide. 8 pts________Accurate & correctly spelled information and easy to read7 pts________Use of Key Words 5 pts________Group showed cooperation/ Group Use of Time in computer Lab 5 pts________Eye contact, volume, rate, body language, fluency, preparedness 20 pts________Extra Credit for Tundra, Mountain, Freshwater, Urban Ecosystems (because there were no hand-outs for those groups) Extra 3 points! ________Total: 100 points! ................
