Sustained Performance Evaluation CriteriaCollege of Business by DepartmentSchool of Accounting Meets Expectations is achieved if the average overall rating provided in the faculty member’s annual reviews over the past seven years is 3.0 or higher, and does not meet the criteria for Exceeds Expectations.Exceeds Expectations is achieved if (1) the average overall rating provided in the faculty member’s annual reviews over the past seven years is 4.0 or higher, and the overall rating in each individual year in the most recent three year period is 3.5 or higher, or (2) the faculty member publishes at least five articles included on the School of Accounting journal list, approved by the Dean, over the past seven years.Department of EconomicsMeets Expectations is achieved if the average overall rating provided in the faculty member’s annual reviews over the past seven years is 3.0 or higher, and does not meet either criteria for Exceeds Expectations. Exceeds Expectations is achieved if (1) the average overall rating provided in the faculty member’s annual reviews over the past seven years is 4.0 or higher, and the overall rating provided in each individual year in the most recent three year period is 3.5 or higher, or (2) a faculty member publishes at least five articles that are in ABS 3 or higher journals of the ABS ranking in the seven year period. The Department chair will calculate: (1) the faculty member’s average unrounded annual Chair’s evaluation for the seven-year period prior to the year the faculty member is evaluated, and (2) the average evaluation for all faculty for that period. Both of these averages will be calculated with the three most recent years being counted twice. (i.e., there will be a total of ten observations in each calculation.) Faculty who are at or above the average will be classified as “Exceeds Expectations.” Faculty below the average, but with no overall evaluation of “Needs Improvement” in the previous two years, and an average evaluation of 3.0 or above for the seven-year period, will be classified as “Meets Expectations.” Faculty having an overall “Fails to Meet Expectations” in any one of the prior two years will be classified as “Fails to Meet Expectations.”?? Method B Faculty having five articles accepted for publication in the ABS-3 or ABS-4 sections of the?2015 ABS list, or a future approved journal list, for any business discipline in the previous seven-year period will be classified as “Exceeds Expectations.” The relevant ABS list can be either the 2015 list, or a more recent ABS list if one is available.Faculty can achieve a rating of “Exceeds Expectations” through either Method A or Method B.Department of Information Technology and Operations ManagementMeets Expectations is achieved if the average overall rating provided in the faculty member’s annual reviews over the past seven years is 3.0 or higher, and does not meet the criteria for Exceeds Expectations.Exceeds Expectations is achieved if (1) the average overall rating provided in the faculty member’s annual reviews over the past seven years is 4.0 or higher, and the overall rating in each individual year in the most recent three year period is 3.5 or higher, or (2) the faculty member publishes at least five articles in ABS 3 or higher in the list of the ABS ranking in the seven year period.Department of Management ProgramsMeets Expectations is achieved if the average overall rating provided in the faculty member’s annual reviews over the past seven years is 3.0 or higher if available, and does not meet the criteria for Exceeds Expectations.Exceeds Expectations is achieved if the average overall rating provided in the faculty member’s annual reviews over the past seven years is 4.0 or higher if available, and the overall rating in each individual year in the most recent three-year period is 3.5 or higher.Exceeds Expectations can also be achieved if the faculty member publishes at least five significant, high quality intellectual contributions in the last seven years.? Significance and high quality are judged by external validation of the contribution and can include, but not be limited to, high-ranked journals on the ABS list, journals listed on the Financial Times Top 50, and high quality journals as determined by the journal’s five-year average impact factor.? The rating or quality (impact factor) of the journal is based upon the year in which the article was published.?? Any faculty member who publishes a book with a major academic publisher in the seven year time period may list one book as one of the five intellectual contributions.? Any faculty member who receives a prestigious research grant in the seven year time period may count one grant award as one of the five intellectual contributions, up to a maximum of two grants. Faculty members who disagree with their SPE evaluation based on the three criteria stated above may request a review of their record by the Department’s Personnel Committee, whose evaluation must be included alongside the Department Chair’s evaluation, regardless of the outcome.Department of MarketingMeets Expectations is achieved if the average overall rating provided in the faculty member’s annual reviews over the past seven years is 3.0 or higher, and does not meet the criteria for Exceeds Expectations.Exceeds Expectations is achieved if (1) the average overall rating provided in the faculty member’s annual reviews over the past seven years is 4.0 or higher, and the overall rating in each individual year in the most recent three year period is 3.5 or higher, or (2) a faculty member publishes at least five articles in ABS 3 or higher journals in the list of ABS rankings in the seven year period.Department Criteria Approved by Provost Office on February 7, 2018 ................
