If your student is an incoming freshmen or transfer student living on campus, they will be assigned a mailbox with their housing assignment. Information about your student’s mailbox and address will be included in their assignment letter from Housing and Residence Life. Commuter students and other students living off campus can get a campus mailbox for $20 per semester which is billed to their student account. They can visit Student Mail Services to get their mailbox assignment.Students need to check their mailboxes on a regular basis. ?If a mailbox appears to have not been checked in a number of months, Student Mail Services will e-mail the assigned student to confirm that they are still using the mailbox. The mailbox will be closed permanently if there is no response. How do students close their mailbox? To permanently close their mailbox, students return their keys to Student Mail Services. Students who lose their key or do not return it will be charged a $25 non-refundable fee to their student account. How do students know if they have received a package?Students receive an e-mail message to their SLU e-mail account notifying them of a package/parcel arrival. ?They must have a picture ID in order to pick-up and sign for the package/parcel. UPS, FedEx, DHL and other deliveries are received by Student Mail Services at various times during the day; therefore, there?is no set time for students to check on a package/parcel delivery. The tracking number says that my student’s package has been delivered, why have they not received a notification? ?Student Mail Services receives on average 200 packages a day. ??Packages/parcels are processed and e-mails sent as quickly as possible – normally on the same day as received. Because students purchase textbooks and other supplies online during the months of August, September, and January, there may be a slight delay in mail and package delivery due to an increase in delivery volume. This also may happen around holidays, such as Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Easter. USPS online tracking delivery confirmation that reads “delivered Saint Louis, “63101 or 63103” confirms that a package has arrived at the St. Louis Post Office for the zip code “63101 or 63103”, NOT that it has been received by Student Mail Services at Saint Louis University. There is an estimated 24- to 48-hour time frame from that USPS delivery confirmation until the package is received by Student Mail Services. ................
