Accounting Assistant

Reports To: Controller

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Department: Finance

Job Responsibilities:

The Accounting Assistant performs various accounting-related duties for Glacial Lakes Energy, LLC and all its subsidiaries.

Essential Job Functions

• Accounts payable function – process purchase orders, receiving documents, vendor invoices and statements. Initiate payment of vendor invoices according to terms. Maintain files of invoices and related documents.

• Accounts receivable function – process settlement sheets from national ethanol and distiller’s grain customers, maintain analysis worksheets for net sales price and comparison to budget, record cash receipts and maintain records on miscellaneous receivables.

• Corn purchases – maintain analysis worksheets on settlement of corn purchases.

• Obtain production and unit information for weekly and monthly management reports.

• Perform other accounting-related tasks, as assigned by the Controller.

• Perform various tasks related to month-end accounting close, as assigned by the Controller.

• Provide back-up for Administrative Department.

• Prepares various account reconciliations as assigned and maintains fixed asset database

• Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience:

• To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the competencies required to perform the essential functions of this position along with effective oral and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.

• One (1) to three (1) years of accounting experience, preferably in ethanol or manufacturing industry

• Experience with the following accounting areas would be helpful: ethanol and/or distiller’s grains sales, cost accounting in a continuous production environment and fixed assets.

• Experience in providing management reporting.

• Require working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products.

• Prefer working knowledge of Microsoft Great Plains

Education: B.S. in accounting or business related field, preferred. CPA certification helpful.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This position operates mainly in an office environment. In the office, the team member will work on a personal computer. In the plant environment, team member will be required to adhere to all Safety requirements and may be exposed to noise, heat, and other elements both inside and outside. This position is largely self-directed and requires understanding of accounting and company policies, procedures, and values.

• Occasionally lifting weights of forty (40) pounds or less.

• Working on a PC while sitting for approximately 90% of the time.
