Hopefully we are emerging from this pandemic situation and will be able to resume some of our activities. Our last meeting was as relative success and I would like to thank the 32 knights and 30 honored guests that attended. It was evident that we need to improve our pancake breakfast skills. My objective this year is to form 12 teams. Each team should focus on a charity or activity that its members have an interest in. In addition we need to find ways to support each team’s interests. Many times there will be occasions that teams will need to help one another. The Wild Game Dinner would probably entail many people to be involved. . We need to support one another especially our elderly members that have devoted so much time and effort in the past. We also need to teach our younger members some of life’s lessons that we have learned. I want to share with you 2 things that have helped me on my spiritual journey. I am a firm believer that the rosary is the most powerful weapon that we have at our disposal and we should pray it every day. I also make a point to read the Catechism of the Catholic Church for 10 minutes every day. It takes approximately 5 months to read the Catechism from cover to cover if you read just 10 minutes per day. In order live our faith, we need to know our faith. Many people tell me that it is very boring reading and sometimes very difficult to understand. I had the same thoughts at the beginning however the deeper I get into our beliefs, the more they make sense. I do not know if what I experienced is unusual but after I read the entire Catechism I reread it again and gained additional insight on the teachings of the Catholic Church. I am a slow learner and have personally resolved to keep reading it every day. We did not get to be who we are or what we are all at once. Our earthly journey is just a prelude to our final eternal destination. One other interesting note – it seems more often than not that I encounter a situation involving something that I read in the Catechism the same day. Each of us has a unique God given talent or talents. By combining our talents we can achieve far more than any individual by himself. The best way to discover our talents is by getting out of our comfort zone. I believe that an active member should try to attend at least 2 meetings per year and be involved in at least I activity. I know that some of our members are physically unable to attend meetings and participate in some activities. Others have other obligations that prevent them from coming to our meetings. We do not expect anyone to do anything beyond their capability. We need better attendance at our meetings and activities. Please be part of the solution and not part of the problem. --GK David Petty00Grand Knights ReportBrother Knights,We are starting our new fraternal year and I encourage each of you to become an active member in our council.
