Our Night Out Against Crime was a huge success, with attendance from TTOA residents, Councilwoman Kristin Palmer and Commander Cecil Ruffin of the 4th District, and their staff. Thank you to all volunteers for their hard work and families that participated in the event. Our General Meeting was also held during the month of October. During the meeting we reviewed this year’s accomplishments; school speed limit signs, gazebo roof replacement on Woodstone and Red Oak Court, trees trimmed in Collins Park, power wash brick walls on General De Gaulle, five new advertisers, covenant revisions, Tall Timbers entrance signs and Collins Park signs repaired and painted, trees trimmed on Tall Pines and Tall Oak, brick repairs on Woodstone and Red Oak Court, garden beds cleared and flowers planted, and the website was completed. Also, residents are now able to pay dues and view the newsletter on-line, Sewerage & Water Board repairs completed near Eisenhower School, work with code enforcement on properties that are non-compliant, and street patchwork. We will continue efforts to have streets repaired in Tall Timbers- Fix Our Streets Campaign (November 1st budget hearing). Aggressive efforts have been put forth to collect outstanding dues, while taking appropriate actions. Last and certainly not least, is to continue working with NOPD 4th District, Max Meetings and APAC.As we look to the future, we have identified goals for 2019:Those goals are to continue working with Code Enforcement to address abandoned homes and vehicles. Purchase Safecom crime cameras for TTOA which provides 24 hours/7 days a week monitoring, continue Fix Our Street Campaign, replace wooden fences in the following areas; Tall Pines & S. Inwood and Tall Timbers & Red Cypress, hang Tall Timbers banners at both entrances, continue efforts to collect dues- with a 98% goal, election of TTOA Covenant Revisions and continue working with NOPD- 4th District.Page two of our newsletter references the importance of voting “YES” to TTOA’s Covenant Revisions. Many may not be aware, the last time TTOA dues were increased, was over (30) years ago. When I became TTOA’s President, I was determined not to increase dues until efforts were exerted in collecting outstanding dues. Residents that have not paid their dues, have been turned over to the courts. TTOA’s legal team has been successful so far.Thanksgiving Day is one of my favorite days of the year. It is a reminder to give thanks and to count my many blessings. I am thankful for the residents of Tall Timbers that have supported me this past year. I am thankful for our advertisers, our board, residents that pick-up trash weekly on General De Gaulle, those that work in the flower beds, those that have trimmed hedges near the SWB location- for over (28) years. These volunteers, that I’ve not mentioned by name, should remind us there is always something we can do to make our community a better place. As we prepare for this holiday season, ask yourself- what can I do to make Tall Timbers a better place to live? AND, I ask that you always be a resident in good-standing, so you that you too, can have a seat at the table.2771775886269500Have a Happy Thanksgiving! See you around the neighborhood! Gilbert Crowden- TTOA 2018 President-149542171450 TALL TIMBERS OWNERS ASSOCIATION 113823710664830FIRST CHANGE IN 30 YEARS Tall Timbers Owners Association will hold an election to approve Covenant Revisions beginning Monday, November 5, 2018 and ending Wednesday, December 2, 2018. Draft copies of the Covenant Revisions were distributed during the October 24, 2018 General Meeting and by Section Reps. If anyone needs another copy, please visit Tall Timbers Owners Association’s website at (). Below are a few reasons why TTOA residents should vote YES to the Covenant Revisions. TTOA’s Covenant was last revised in 1982. Dues were increased to $180.00. Today’s problem- INFLATION. We would require $460.00 today to cover what $180 bought in 1982. Without the increase - security would be cut to four (4) hours a day. The following services would suffer, if dues aren’t increased; maintenance of the grounds, grass cutting services, flower beds, cleaning of the brick wall on General De Gaulle, TTOA newsletter, and the website. TTOA wouldn’t be able to purchase safety cameras for the subdivision. Community events would be eliminated; TTOA’s Easter egg hunt, Night Out Against Crime, and Family Day in the Park. TTOA financial reserves wouldn’t last long, due to cuts. The Covenant Revisions eliminates rentals & commercial use of TTOA lots/property.Residents wouldn’t seek office due to limited or in-sufficient funds to operate. Residents that are considering voting NO- please visit any subdivision in the city that is not covenant protected and compare the services received in Tall Timbers. You will see the difference. Your support is needed. Please make the best choice for you and your family, by voting Yes!FIX OUR STREETSWe invited the mayor to attend our October General Meeting, however she had a scheduling conflict. We have met with the Department of Streets, Councilwoman Kristin Palmer, and Councilman-At-Large Jason Williams regarding the streets in Tall Timbers. If you live on one of the following streets; Post Oak, Teak, Pin Oak, Tall Pines, South Pin Oak, we encourage a representative from your household to attend the Mayor’s budget hearings for the Department of Public Works. Budget hearings are currently in progress. We will notify you when the Department of Public Works hearing is scheduled. We are planning to attend the meeting, to kick off- “Fix Our Streets in Tall Timbers We Pay Taxes” campaign. We can’t do this without you. Please call (504) 329-6640 if you have questions. -946153759202252345676275THANKSGIVING DRIVE0THANKSGIVING DRIVETTOA will once again collect items for Thanksgiving baskets for needy families of children attending Eisenhower School, located in our subdivision.
