One of the most important components of your Acura's braking system is the brake fluid. As you apply pressure to the brake pedal, the fluid transfers pressure to the brake caliper assemblies at each wheel. That's a simplified description of a complex process, which includes actions by the master cylinder, the ABS (anti-lock brake system) control unit, the calipers, and numerous sensors. To ensure that these components continue to perform their intended function requires a fluid that does not compress and that can withstand very high temperatures without boiling. Because brake fluid is hydroscopic, over time it can absorb moisture, lowering the fluid's boiling point and increasing the likelihood of corrosion in many critical components. That can compromise your safety and be expensive to repair. Changing your brake fluid every three years and specifying Honda Heavy Duty DOT 3 brake fluid will help ensure that you get the maximum safety and service life from your braking system.

Oil--the Life of Your Acura

You are probably aware that oil is a lubricant, but did you know your vehicle's oil has many other functions as well? Your oil also plays a critical role in keeping your engine cool. The combustion process generates heat that can reach several thousand degrees. Without oil, your vehicle's coolant system would be quickly overwhelmed. Oil also helps keep your engine clean. By-products of combustion and other contaminants (such as dirt from driving in dusty conditions) are carried to the oil filter where they are captured and held between oil changes. It's a uniquely formulated ethylene glycol based product engineered by Honda R&D to help give maximum service life to all Acura cooling systems. For convenience, it has been blended to the factory specified 50/50 mix with purified, de-ionized water.

Over 95% of the coolants on the market use silicate inhibitors to prevent corrosion, but these silicates can cause premature wear to water pump seals, so Honda engineers demanded a superior corrosion inhibitor without silicates.
