1. Purpose of Your Job

Support and assist the staff and Centre with the educational, physical and social needs of the student.

• Work cooperatively with staff and carry out duties as directed by the Office Manager or the Senior Leadership Team.

• To carry out all your duties as a member of the Admin Team to the best of your ability.

2. Applicable Contract Terms and Duties

• This job description is to be performed in accordance with the provisions of the pay and conditions policy within the duties set out in that document, so far as is relevant to the post holder’s title and salary grade.

The following statements define the behaviour and attitudes which set out the required standard for conduct when working with children or young people

2.1 Staff working in schools should uphold public trust in them and maintain high standards of ethics and behaviour, within and outside school, by;

1. Treating students with dignity, building relationships rooted in mutual respect, and at all times observing proper boundaries appropriate to a school based professional position.

2. Having regard to the need to safeguard students’ well being, in accordance with statutory provisions

3. Showing tolerance of and respect for the rights of others

4. Not undermining fundamental British values, including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect, and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

5. Ensuring that personal beliefs are not expressed in ways which exploit students’ vulnerability or might lead them to break the law.

2.2 Staff in schools must have proper and professional regard for the ethos, policies and practices of the school in which they work, and maintain high standards in their own attendance and punctuality

2.3 Staff in schools must have an understanding of, and always act within, the statutory frameworks which set out their professional duties and responsibilities

As a member of the Admin Team you will make the welfare of the students you work with your first concern, and you are accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in work and conduct. As a member of the Admin Team at NHESC you will act with honesty and integrity; have strong subject knowledge; keep your knowledge and skills as an Admin Assistant up to date and be self critical; forge positive professional relationships; and work with parents/outside agencies in the best interests of their students.

5. Supervision and Accountability

The Admin Assistant with Reception Duties works under the direction of the Office Manager who will delegate areas of responsibility as required. The Office Manager is responsible for the Admin Assistant’s performance appraisal. This job description may be amended at any time after full consultation, but in any case will be reviewed annually
