I think most people can agree that we have all used headphones no matter the cause all of us have. There are many types of headphones from the costly loud and eccentric to the dollar store one use kind. This day and age many kids are using them in school and its become a dilemma trying to get them away from children. In this paper I’ll be talking about pros and cons of using these universal tools in school period. Headphones are a growing pain to teachers these days and all the hype over them is not helping. Many reasons and excuses have been used as to why students should be allowed to have them like “I cant focus or I cant stand the noise” which teachers have contended with by saying “how is that loud music in your ear any different”. I have to say im siding with the headphones and I’ll tell you why. It helps with tons of different things. Imagine being in a loud rowdy classroom environment with kids screaming to the top of their lungs about their day. Would it not be nice to zone out and listen to maybe your favorite song? It calms you down, almost instantly helps you relax, and focuses your head on your main objective like a worksheet maybe study for a test. Headphones can also be used to interact over the internet (some come with mics). Headphones can again be used for computer classroom purposes like if there is an assignment on the computer and you don’t want to disturb classmates with the loud explanations and directions for the assignment from the computer.But there are tons of bad things from headphones some cons can even take the pros out of the water. Bad things hear all the time are the student isn’t focusing or isn’t learning or the music can be over calming and the student will fall asleep in the middle of class. Also with the growing hype in headphones comes the overpriced designer fads this causes lots of problems fights from them breaking even getting killed because they were stolen and the student refused to give them up. There are even more cons but those are unimportant.It takes a really responsible student to wear headphones in school. There are lots of things to have to focus on and do.
