Can it be May already??  This year has flown by.  We are grateful for each and every one of you who has attended RJR arts and athletic events, volunteered in any capacity, and helped support the students and staff.  The final PTSA meeting will be in the auditorium Monday, May 23rd at 6:15 before the Spring Sing Chorus Concert.

During this meeting, the 38 students who have earned the Presidential Service Awards will be recognized, the PTSA Board members who will not have students at Reynolds next year will be honored, the new PTSA Officers will be installed, and the new Bylaws will (hopefully) be approved.  We know that May is busy.  All parents who attend the PTSA meeting and enter the auditorium by 6:20 will have free entrance to the chorus concert.

Complete information on the uniform bylaws can be found at:

We need proctors for all EOC exams.  Proctors need to be at least 18 years old and not enrolled in a high school. If any of your college students are home and need volunteer hours, this is a perfect way to get them.  Please contact Mary Bergstone at mgbergstone@wsfcs.k12.nc.us or at (336)727-2012 to volunteer.

RJR’s Acapella group will be performing at Stratford Village on May 26 from 7 to 9 p.m.   They are kicking off our Music in the Courtyard series.  One of the members happens to be one of our employees!  We're so excited!  Bring your family and friends and cheer on the group!  There is NO CHARGE!

We will be posting information about the Music in the Courtyard series on the following websites:

2010 Yearbooks Offerd at a Great Price

Due to an error in last year's yearbook order, we have a surplus of 2010 (last year's) yearbooks.  We need to clear out space for the new books when they arrive in a few weeks.  From now until the end of the year, if anyone would like to purchase one of the 2010 yearbooks, they may do so for the amazingly low price of $20 -- they were originally $45!  Simply bring payment, cash or money order, no checks, to room 210 to pick up your copy of the book.  Please contact Mr. Allen if you have any further questions.

• Student books will be due May 31st before exams begin.  Please encourage your student to bring in any library materials they may have.

• Inventory is 97% complete. Any materials that were returned to the media center shelves while still checked out have been checked in and are off the student record.  All overdue notices sent after this process are for items that have not been returned to the library and will need to be either returned or paid for.

• See our media center website for summer reading information.  There is also an opportunity for free audio downloads of popular and classic titles each week throughout the summer.

• End of the year brings technology clean up .  Any student files they wish to save must be downloaded to a home computer through the web portal or saved on a flash drive or CD.  Please make your students aware of this in case they have files they want to share with you or projects to keep.  Instructions on how to use the WSFCS web portal are available in the media center.

• We receive a number of paperback advance reader copies of books each year to review for purchase.  When we finish going through them, we give them away to students for their personal reading.  New titles with a few typos but fun reading!

Algebra 1 EOC Review

The Algebra 1 teachers will be offering a series of review sessions in the weeks leading up to exam. The review sessions will cover additional review materials that we will not have time to do in class. We will go over test taking strategies, common errors, and discuss how to solve the word problems commonly found on the End-of-Course test. All students must make a level 3 or 4 on the Algebra 1 EOC test to graduate from RJR. We have developed these review sessions as additional support for our students. Transportation home is available from the tutoring bus which leaves RJR from the landing at 4:45. Questions regarding the tutoring bus can be directed to Mr. Small in the main office.

The dates, times and locations of the review sessions are as follows:

Session #3 May 17th 3:50-4:40 Library Quadratics &

Exponentials

Session #4 May 24th 3:50-4:40 Library Systems of Equations

Session #5 May 31st 3:50-4:40 Library Line of Best Fit

Please note that these review sessions are for RJR students currently enrolled in Algebra 1. We cannot accommodate students from other schools or students in other classes.

If you have any questions, please contact your Algebra 1 teacher.
