At the hour of 9:00 a.m., the Board of Commissioners of McCone County, Montana, met in regular session with James Moos, and Janet Wolff present. Presiding Officer James Moos called the meeting to order. The pledge of allegiance was recited. The agenda was approved.

Shannon Shanholtzer, MACo PCT/WCT Administrator; and Barb Green, HUB Insurance

Representative; and Maridel Kassner, Clerk and Recorder, met with the Board to discuss the insurance

renewal for FY2017.

Alan Stempel joined the meeting.

The May 2, 2016 minutes were read and approved as corrected.

Allen Rosaaen, South Road Foreman, met with the Board reporting that they are working on the Richey Road, Tower Road, Dry Ash Creek Road, and Mayberry Road.

Commissioner Wolff reported on the Action for Eastern Montana Finance Committee meeting she attended in Glendive on May 5, 2016 and the Action for Eastern Montana Executive Board meeting she attended in Glendive on May 6, 2016. Commissioner Wolff also reported on the Fair Board meeting

she attended on May 2, 2016.

Commissioner Moos reported on a Juvenile Detention Board conference call he participated in on

May 3, 2016.

The Board reviewed and approved the Justice Court and Sheriff reports for April, 2016. (Copies

of the reports are on file in the Commissioners’ files.)

Mike Fritz, South Road Crewman, met with the Board to discuss weed spraying. The South Road District will be utilizing glyphosate, amine, surfactant, and a drift agent on county road surfaces beginning the first part of June. Tim Sorley, North Road Foreman, reported that amine, surfactant, and a drift agent will be sprayed on the county road surfaces in the North Road District the first part of June also. Scott Heide, Weed Coordinator, reported that for noxious weed control a mixture of Tordon, amine, and surfactant is utilized along all county roads. All precautions will be made to spray when it is calm and to be aware of pulse and organic crops near county roads. Additional information is available by contacting Allen Rosaaen, South Road Foreman; Tim Sorley, North Road Foreman; Scott Heide, Weed Coordinator; or Ken Nelson, Weed Supervisor.

Budget Authority Resolution #16-05-09A to establish the transfer of Airport Funds was discussed. Commissioner Stempel moved to approve Resolution #16-05-09A and Commissioner Wolff

seconded. The motion passed 3-0. (A copy of the resolution is on file in the Commissioners’ files.)

Nita Crockett, Treasurer, presented the Delinquent Tax Report for April, 2016 with $79,242.42 delinquent for real estate, $1,153.25 delinquent for mobile homes, and $4,885.60 delinquent for personal

property. The application for Prairie Elk Colony School to be classified as an isolated school was reviewed and approved. The Treasurer’s Monthly Cash Reconciliation for April, 2016 was reviewed

and approved. (A copy of the report is on file in the Commissioners’ files.)

The Board held the second reading of Resolution #16-05-09B amending the fees for reimbursement of costs associated with Tax Sales and Tax Deed proceedings. The Treasurers Office will no longer collect a fee in order to receive a copy of the delinquent tax list. Commissioner Wolff moved to

approve the Resolution #16-05-09B and Commissioner Stempel seconded. The motion passed 3-0. (A copy of the resolution is on file in the Commissioners’ files.)

The Board reviewed the April, 2016 Expenditure and Treasurer Cash Summary Report.

The Board attended the LEPC meeting at noon.

Mary Hendrix, McCone Conservation District Conservationist, presented the Application for

Administration/Operating Grant Funds for FY2017 to provide funding for the McCone Conservation

District. The Board reviewed and approved the application. (A copy of the application is on file in

the Commissioners’ files.)

Nancy Stempel, GIS Coordinator, updated the Board about mapping projects and census information.

Commissioner Moos left the meeting at 2:20 p.m for personal reasons.

The Board approved the installation of the underground sprinkler system at the Library in the amount of $2,850.00. The Board met with Wayne French, groundskeeper; and Jamy Frost, underground sprinkler installer, to discuss the sprinkler system.

Correspondence occupied the Board the remainder of the day.

The meeting adjourned at 5:00 p.m.
