Deadline for Rural Energy for America Program Applications Extended

USDA Rural Development has announced that an amendment to the Notice of Funding Availability for the Rural Energy for America Program was published May 8, 2013 in the Federal Register. The Notice extends the application period from April 30, 2013 to May 31, 2013 for renewable energy systems and energy efficiency improvement projects grants and grant and loan combination applications, and for renewable energy system feasibility study applications. The Guaranteed Loan only application deadline is not being modified and will remain as July 15, 2013.

The notice also clarifies the regulatory requirement that an applicant is not eligible for an award if the System for Award Management (SAM) and Dun and Bradstreet Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) requirements are not met. All applications wishing to compete for funding consideration must have a DUNS number which is registered and current in the SAM system as of the deadline noted above.

The Notice of Funding Availability for the Rural Energy for America Program published May 8, 2013 in the Federal Register can be found at: . As indicated in the notice, the Agency intends to publish a separate notice to amend the funding available under REAP.

Rural small businesses and agriculture producers who have interest in renewable energy or energy efficiency projects are encouraged to take this opportunity to submit applications for Fiscal Year 2013 if they have not already done so. If an application has already been submitted for funding consideration, the extension affords an opportunity to enhance or modify the proposal up to the newly published deadline. Please note however, that the application date will be changed accordingly based on the new submission date. USDA has made a concerted effort to deliver results for the American people, even as USDA implements sequestration ? the across-the-board budget reductions mandated under terms of the Budget Control Act. USDA has already undertaken historic efforts since 2009 to save more than $700 million in taxpayer funds through targeted, common-sense budget reductions. These reductions have put USDA in a better position to carry out its mission, while implementing sequester budget reductions in a fair manner that causes as little disruption as possible.
