HOA News & Information Property Management Update

The following report was provided at the April Board meeting:

HOA Items:

? In nonresident sport fees, the HOA has collected $3,465 in 2012 ($1,625 in 2011). The majority of the increase is attributable to the increase in the fees for nonresident soccer players.

? In vending machine proceeds, the HOA has collected $289.20 in 2012 ($203.55 in 2011).

? The Amenity Package information along with the 2012 stickers was mailed the week of April 2.

Amenity Monitoring:

? We currently have security guards working part time, 40 hours per week, spanning across 6 days. They monitor all the amenity areas, including playgrounds, the lake, etc. They provide us with a written report at the end of each shift. During spring break, the security guards were here 56 hours so that each day is covered with an eight hour shift. Beginning April 29, they will work 56 hours per week until the end of August.

? Police continue to work Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.

Playgrounds:

? Recreation Station continues monthly inspections of the playgrounds and takes care of necessary safety issues. Re-staining of play equipment in Olmsted, Winterthur, Palisades, Revere, Madison, and Kentmere began the week of April 23. Belt swings and chains were replaced at the Gramercy Playground; the toddler bucket swings were removed at the Olmsted playground and replaced with full buckets; new gate added at the Annandale Playground and two full buckets swings and hardware were replaced; a rotten wood post will be replaced at the Madison Playground.

2012 Projects & Maintenance:

? At the April Planning Session, the Board discussed:

A presentation made by a real estate agent, security hours, pool update, youth tennis and soccer camps, storm water issues in Palisades, Liaisons and communications, Rental Committee recommendations, Neighborhood Watch Program, Clubhouse use policy, Winterthur Bridge replacement, Town Council, Workers Comp coverage for volunteers, and the appeal for the Board meeting.

? Sports Coordinator: Candace Cole has been hired as the Sports Coordinator and has been working on getting all the sport rosters, payments, and calendars up to date.

? Completed Items: The disc golf course has been installed and we have received raving reviews. A sign with a map will be installed next to the first tee pad and a printed map will be made available to residents. We will have a stock of discs available for sale to residents in the HOA office. The project was completed for $3,800. The timer for the Lake fountain has been replaced and the fountain is working. We bid out the printing of the newsletter and the May edition will be with a new printer that will save the HOA money and we expect the same good quality we have had in the past. We received quotes from our insurance agent for increasing deductibles and the minimal savings does not warrant modifying the contracts at this time. The HOA will bid out the insurance package before the renewal in September. Tennis courts 1, 10 and 11 have been repaired and recoated.

? Scheduled Projects: The electrical panel by the tennis courts has been replaced and needs to be painted. The Main Pool and Quiet Pool decks were cleaned the week of April 23 and repairs to the Main Pool deck and Quiet Pool surface will be done before May 5. The furniture for the Main Pool went out the week of April 23 and the other three pools the week of April 30. We have ordered new umbrellas and tables. The pool inspections are scheduled for Friday, April 20. The concession stand remodeling project should begin soon after bids are reviewed. Wood rot will be repaired on the tennis pavilion and we are working on getting bids on a non-slip material to put on the tennis pavilion concrete. The sign poles in the neighborhoods will be painted as well as all three sign boards.

2 HOA News & Information

? Landscape: New flowers will be installed the week of April 23 at all the entrances. We are repairing the irrigation at the main entrance and we will be reimbursed by Cobb County, as it was damaged during the construction on Jiles Road. As soon as the irrigation is repaired in that area, we will plant flowers in all the beds, as the construction on the Legacy Park side of Jiles Road has been completed.

Please contact Lisa Neff at the HOA office or via e-mail at propertymanager@ with any concerns or suggestions that you may have regarding Legacy Park. Let us know what is important to you in our community.

Do you have a graduating senior this year?

For the fourth year, we are honoring Legacy Park residents who are graduating in this edition of the newsletter. The Legacy Park HOA along with Sign Partners will be continuing the tradition of lining Legacy Park Boulevard with signs for each senior. If you missed the deadline for this edition of the newsletter, you can still get a sign ordered for your graduate, and must do so by May 11 for your sign to be "free"! Send the following information to: propertymanager@: Student name, school graduating from, future plans, parents' names, and neighborhood.

When You Lend a Hand...

While walking the circle on Saturday March 24th, our dog Studd Muffin wiggled loose from his harness and went on a running spree that lasted three subdivisions! We are happy to say that Studd Muffin is at home safe and sound because of kind and caring Legacy Park residents. So thank you to the nice couple who followed our dog in their van and caught him, the lady who picked me up and drove me to get Studd Muffin, and the several others who stopped and showed support. We are forever grateful to everyone's efforts; if it wasn't for you guys we fear that there may have been a much different outcome.

~The Ebners, Highcroft residents

Experiences like this make Legacy Park such a great place to call home! When we rally around our neighbors when they are sick, need a ride to school, need to have mail picked up, or to bring in the garbage can, etc, we build community spirit that adds to our quality of life. That's the small town where we want our kids to grow up...

MAYOR'S CORNER

As the school year draws to a close, I'd like to extend my personal congratulations to this year's high school and college graduates. I hope your education and school experiences provide a solid foundation for your future and I wish you good fortune as you move on to the next stage of your lives. You'll always be a part of this community, so don't be a stranger!

We certainly had a busy April, with both the Great Locomotive Chase Sesquicentennial and the Big Shanty Festival providing everyone with plenty of opportunities for entertainment, shopping and eating. We're off and running with a full schedule of events in the coming months, put on by our award winning Parks & Recreation Department - so you know they will all be done right!

The May calendar starts off with our first outdoor movie of the season at Swift-Cantrell Park, Puss in Boots, on Saturday, May 5. Then we launch the Kennesaw Grand Prix 5K Run series with the Swift-Cantrell Classic on Saturday, May 12. Proceeds from this first race will benefit the Swift-Cantrell Foundation. There will be five more races in the series throughout the year, each one raising funds for a city project or property. And remember, these races are part of my Fit City Kennesaw initiative, which will continue throughout the year, encouraging folks to get out, get moving, and live a healthier lifestyle.

The opening of the annual Kennesaw Farmers Market on May 1 provides another opportunity to build healthier habits by incorporating more veggies and fruits into your diet. Held every Tuesday from 7 am - 1 pm at Adams Park, the market offers just-picked produce and fresh baked goods, along with other merchandise including landscape plants and a variety of homemade items. We have dozens of vendors signed up so the variety of offerings is bound to be impressive.

May is an excellent time to visit Smith-Gilbert Gardens. The Rose Garden is filled with vibrant colors and scents. The new Gather `n Grow family garden is a wonderland of whimsical elements like bubble pools, a bottle tree, and animal topiaries scattered among the raised veggie beds. There's so much to see and appreciate, all in a setting that's like a mini-escape offering peace and serenity from the daily grind. I highly recommend it.

And don't forget about the Downtown Development Authority's Dinner at the Depot program. Six food trucks gather at the Depot every Monday night from 5-8 pm (weather permitting). The event has gotten very positive reviews from those who've attended. It's a fun way to get out of the same-old, same-old dinner rut and enjoy some new, interesting foods al fresco with friends and family.

See you around town, Mark
