Board members introduced, panel members, then attendees introduced themselves and where they are at in their nursing career. Attendees included nursing students to nurses with 48-years experience. AzNA Events/UpdatesLed by Kathy Wruk. Reviewed past Chapter 30 events and AzNA sponsored events and upcoming events. RN Advocacy day had about 120 nurses attend. At the SNAAZ mid-year convention, Chapter 30 raffled a new graduate AzNA membership. AzNA sponsored Nurse Leadership Academies. Chapter 30 recently held the Renewal Retreat with 40 nurses in attendance. Nurse Week Chapter 30 hosted a 5k Walk and the New Emerging Nurses held a Fit Event. Upcoming is the ANA Membership Assembly in Washington, DC – Donna Cherkasky a chapter 30 member won a scholarship from the Educator SIG to attend. AzNA has two voting members who also attend. The NP Symposium is in July sponsored by the NP SIG. Fall scholarships will be offered again by Chapter 30 stating September 1. The AzNA Convention is September 27 - 29. Chapter 30 will attend the SNAAZ Convention this fall again. There will be upcoming elections for Chapter 30 for outgoing board members: President, Secretary, Director of Education and Director of Membership. AzNA PAC InformationPresented by Lesly Kelly from the AzNA PAC committee. AzNA has a very busy public policy committee that monitors bills. PAC is its own entity separate from AzNA to endorse candidates. Candidates are considered as vetted nurses, incumbents, and “newbies”, in that order. The PAC has no party bias. Fundraising is new and big for the PAC, recently had casino night which was very successful and exceeded fundraising goal. In fact, fundraising goals have tripled. State PAC supports state candidates whereas national ANA PAC supports national candidates. There are currently volunteer opportunities to get involved. Informational material was available for meeting attendees.Spring Scholarship UpdatesPresented by Kerry Gerle. Chapter 30 members Christen Stevens and Bill Adams each won a professional development scholarship of $250.00. Amanda Foster won the student scholarship of $500.00.Diversity in Nursing Panel DiscussionModerated by Lynn Untermeyer. Panel members included: Bill Adams, BSN, RN – Clinical Care Coordinator, Tami Calvin, MSN, RN, BC – Clinical Manager, Stevie Garner, ADN, RN – New Graduate, Kerry Gerle, MSN-L, RN – Nursing Faculty, Raeanna Henney – Student Nurse, Sarah Locke, DNP, FNP-BC – Nurse Practitioner, Lynn Untermeyer, MSN-L, RN, IBLCLC – Lactation Educator, and Kathy Wruk, RN, BC – Serves on a Board. Questions included: 1) Intro and career path, 2) How do you live your passions through nursing? 3) Have you ever thought of leaving the nursing profession? Why? 4) How do you manage your work/life balance? An exciting and productive panel discussion took place discussing the panel members’ different career paths in nursing. The attendees had some excellent questions for the panel regarding the current job market and hiring. A consensus grew within the panel that continued education and professional development was key to professional growth and making yourself more marketable. Raffle PrizesLed by Kathy Wruk. Book went to Audrey Magee-Davey, $25.00 gift card to Texas Roadhouse went to Jacque Cushard, and $25.00 Visa gift card went to Maureen Buhl. VII.
