Nile's Fertile Shore

Each year Kushites eagerly awaited the fall when the Nile would flood. The people of Kush depended on agriculture for their food. The Nile's floods allowed the Kushites to plant both summer and winter crops. Among the crops they grew were wheat, barley, and other grains. The banks of the Nile also provided grazing for livestock. Farming villages thrived all along the Nile by 3500 BC.
