However, no action may be taken upon a matter raised under public comment period unless the matter itself has been specifically included on an agenda as an action item.)Homa Woodrum, State of Nevada Aging and Disability Services, provided comments on changes to the members of the Task Force on Alzheimer’s Disease (TFAD). As of June 30, 2018, Dr. Fisher’s term has ended and she publicly thanked Dr. Fisher for her service. Dr. Fisher’s appointment category, which represents Caregivers for Persons with Cognitive Disorders, is still open, and steps to solicit a representative for this vacant position are being pursued. Ms. Woodrum also reminded TFAD members that Jill Berntson retired on June 14, 2018, and her position, which represents the Department of Health and Human Services, is temporarily being filled by Jeff Duncan, Social Services Chief II, Aging and Disability Services.Welcoming Remarks Sen. Valerie Wiener (Ret.), ChairSen. Wiener welcomed TFAD members. She thanked both Ms. Berntson and Dr. Fisher for their contributions to TFAD and welcomed Jeff Duncan in his new role with TFAD.Confirmation of Appointments to TFAD, Beginning July 1, 2018Sen. Valerie Wiener (Ret.), ChairSen. Valerie Wiener (Ret.) and Wendy Simons have been reappointed by Richard Whitley, Director, Department of Health and Human Services, for two year terms. Sen. Wiener informed TFAD members that next June the remaining eight members of TFAD will be up for reappointment. It is her recommendation that, at that time, three members elect to taking a one-year term while two members accept two-year appoinements. This will allow for five members to be reappointed each year and better functionality of TFAD. Election of Chair and Vice Chair (For Possible Action)Jeff Duncan, Social Services ChiefAging and Disability ServicesJeff Duncan made a motion for Sen. Wiener (Ret.) to continue in her role as Chair of the Task Force on Alzheimer’s Disease. Sen. Hardy seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.Sen. Wiener (Ret.) made a motion to nominate Dr. Reed to continue in his role as Vice Chair of the Task Force on Alzheimer’s Disease. Sen. Hardy seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.Approval of March 9, 2018 and May 9, 2018, Meeting Minutes (For Possible Action)Sen. Valerie Wiener (Ret.), ChairSen. Hardy made a motion to approve the March 9, 2018, meeting minutes. Dr. Reed seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.Sen. Hardy made a motion to approve the May 9, 2018, meeting minutes. Dr. Bernick seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Behaviorally Complex Care Program (BCCP) Training Exploration Update Dr. Peter Reed, DirectorSanford Center for AgingDr. Reed provided an update on the Dementia Training Workgroup. Members also include Dr. Jennifer Carson, Kirsten Columbe, Mary Field, and Gini Cunningham. The group has convened two meetings since the last TFAD meeting. Dr. Reed discussed the contents for the survey that they will be sending out to administrators at nursing homes across the state. He is waiting on final feedback from the workgroup before sending out the survey.The workgroup will reconvene in August to discuss the results from the survey and whether to offer a recommendation for the 2019 State Plan. Dr. Reed will present any recommendations at the September 2018 meeting.Review Draft of the 2019 TFAD State Plan (For Possible Action) Sen. Valerie Wiener (Ret.), ChairTFAD needs to finalize all elements of the 2019 State Plan by the September 2018 meeting, including a possible new recommendation being presented by Dr. Reed on behalf of the Dementia Training Work Group.The intention is to have draft of the 2019 State Plan ready to review at the September 2018 meeting. Members will vote final approval at the November 2018 meeting. A final draft of the 2018 Annual Report will also be ready for approval at the November 2018 meeting. Consideration and Approval of Possible Recommendations #2 and #9 on the 2019 TFAD State Plan (For Possible Action) Niki Rubarth, Regional Director Alzheimer's Association Ms. Rubarth clarified changes to language for Recommendation #2. Sen. Hardy made a motion to approve Recommendation #2, with the expanded language. Dr. Reed seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Per Sen. Wiener’s request, Recommendation #9 was not addressed at this time. Following the next agenda item in regards to the blending of Recommendation #9 with Recommendation #8.X.Approval of Indicators for Recommendations #8 and #9 in the 2019 TFAD State Plan (For Possible Action) Niki Rubarth, Regional Director Alzheimer's Association Ms. Rubarth suggested that Recommendations #8 and #9 be blended to create one recommendation with the current indicators. Dr. Reed asked for clarification, stating he felt the indicators were not consistent with the recommendations. Ms. Rubarth agreed to amend some of the language in Recommendation #8. Dr. Reed suggested adding language below the indicators to read as follows, “Further, TFAD will monitor progress towards the creation of the Key Partners Network for supporting caregivere services and resources”. Sen. Hardy made a motion to approve the blending of Recommendation #8 and #9 to include additional language. Dr. Reed seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.XI.Consideration and Approval of Possible New Recommendations for the 2019 TFAD State Plan (For Possible Action) Sen. Valerie Wiener (Ret.), ChairBehaviorally Complex Care ProgramAPRN’s- Financial Support for Education Legal Education and DementiaDiscussion regarding the language for this Recommendation. Ms. Woodrum agreed to work with Sen. Wiener in regards to the language for the Legal Educaion and Dementia. Final draft of language to be presented at September TFAD meeting. XII.Approval of Agenda Items for September 5, 2018, Meeting (For Possible Action)Sen. Valerie Wiener (Ret.), Chair1. Review Draft of the 2019 TFAD State Plan2.
