Girl Talk (Ms. Consiglio)

Girl Talk will meet on a regular basis to provide students with an opportunity to discuss issues which affect their daily lives in a positive and fun environment. Students will receive support with social skills, problem-solving and issues associated with being a girl.

Grandpals (Ms. Cohen)

Meet and spend time with our senior neighbors at The Atria doing arts and crafts and playing games. The Grandpals club meets on Friday afternoon.

Drama Club (Mr. Bonica)

Sing, dance and have fun in the cast or crew of our annual spring musical production. Rehearsals begin in November. See postings in A-House lobby.

Newspaper Club (Ms. Catterson)

Join the staff of The Mattlin PRIDE, our school's n newspaper, and see your name in print! New writers, re reporters, interviewers, photographers, cartoonists, a rt artists, puzzle makers, jokesters, and proofreaders are al always welcome.  We meet every other Friday during

Period 9.

Plainview Buddies (Mr. Morris)

Plainview Buddies would create opportunities for one-to-one friendships between middle school students with and without disabilities in which they share interests, experiences, and activities.

foods.

Kids’ Ted Talks (Ms. Winick)

Do you have strong feelings about something?  Do you like to argue a point? Our Mattlin TED-Ed Club helps you gain presentation skills and celebrates innovative

leadership.   Each student will discover, explore about a topic and then learn to present their big idea in the form of short, TED-style talks. The goal is to empower each student to voice his or her own opinions and build self-confidence.

their school and community.

No Place for Hate Club (Mr. Goldberg, Ms. Luzzi)

Mattlin is looking for students who want to become leaders and role models. Everyone has leadership skills, and we want you to use those skills to make Mattlin the best school it can be. Do you want to improve friendships/mentor others/stop harassment &

bullying/plan fun events and show your Mattlin PRIDE? Join the No Place for Hate Club with Mr. Goldberg and Ms. Luzzi.

Math Olympiads – Grades 5-8 (Ms. Winick)

Join in for this world-wide math competition! Practice solving a variety of challenging math problems and compete in five contests from November to March.

School Store (Mr. Bonica)

Student-run store located in the rear of A-House. Snacks, drinks and school supplies are available. Open only to fifth graders during their lunch period.

SAC (Ms. Ralton/ Ms. Epstein)

The Student Advisory Council (SAC) is open to all students anytime during the school year.  Elected representatives and members share ideas, comments etc and participate in organizing schoolwide events.

Lego Robotics Club (Ms. Patanjo, Mr. Langenauer)

Students will collaboratively study a real-life problem faced by humanity and devise an original solution for that problem. They will also explore coding and engineering using a Lego robotics set. Students interested in joining the competitive teams will be selected from this club based on specific criteria.

Mural Club (Ms. Goscinski) Did you ever walk around the school and think... "I wish it had more color, more pizazz, more

murals?" If you have, then this is the perfect club for you. You will be an essential part of deciding the location, theme and concept of the mural. Once Mrs. G sketches the concept on the wall, you and your peers will be responsible for painting.  This club is for grades 7 and 8.

Art Club (Ms. Goscinski)

Express your creativity using a variety of art materials in Art Club! For grades 5 and 6.

Jazz Ensemble (Mr. Hirsch)

Explore and perform pop and jazz genres, including improvisation and jazz interpretation. Evening meetings are once per week plus after school sectionals. Note: audition required.

Yearbook (Ms. Polis, Ms. Scovazzo)

Eighth graders are invited to help create this keepsake publication. Choose theme and cover art, design pages using your ideas, take pictures, survey your classmates and organize polls.

The Environmental Club (Ms. Patanjo)

This new club is a place where students in grades 5-8 can come to learn and experience different aspects of our environment. Students will explore the fertilization process and raise and release Brook trout.  Students will also tackle the embryology of Northern Bobwhite quail and ducks.  Club members will explore additional topics of interest throughout the school year. The Environmental Club will meet twice a month from October through June. 

True Colors (Ms. Catterson)

Everyone deserves safe spaces where they can LIVE, LEARN, WORK and PLAY without fear. True Colors is a new club created to increase acceptance, inclusiveness, and respect for all students, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. In October, we will hand out rainbow ribbons on National Coming Out Day to encourage our school community to show support of LGBTQ friends and family members. Our meetings will be Period 9 on Fridays, 1-2 times per month, with specific dates to be announced. All are welcome!
