We will explore the death penalty issue from the point of view of the principles of Catholic Social Teaching:
• The moral and ethical foundations.
• The call to responsible civic participation.
• The impact on the most vulnerable in our society
We will also have available means and avenues for anti-death penalty advocacy and activities.
Keynote Speaker:
Robert Meeropol
“The Death Penalty: Forgiveness, Reconciliation & Human Rights.”
Robert Meeropol was six years old when his parents, Ethel and Julius Rosenberg, were executed in 1953 after one of the most hotly debated trials in U.S. history. He is now an attorney, activist, author of the memoir, AN EXECUTION IN THE FAMILY and Executive Director of the Rosenberg Fund for Children, a public foundation he created to honor his parents’ legacy. () Robert is also a Board Member of the anti-death penalty organization, Murder Victims’ Families for Human Rights, .
