Last updated:9-8-17JOB DESCRIPTIONPost title:Accountancy AssistantAcademic Unit/Service:Professional ServicesFaculty:Finance, Planning and AnalyticsCareer pathway:Management, Specialist and Administrative (MSA)Level:2B*ERE category:n/aPosts responsible to:Faculty AccountantPosts responsible for:NonePost base:Office-basedJob purposeTo provide comprehensive, effective and efficient management accounting support.Key accountabilities/primary responsibilities% TimeAssist the Assistant Accountant (Research) in administering the costing, budgeting and reporting of a range of research projects either internally or externally funded contracts/grants for Biological Sciences and Chemistry.This will include producing and optimising costings on ARCP, maintaining management information on applications and awards, maintenance of projects in Agresso including accurate project milestones, regular reporting to the budget holder on their funding, salary forecasting, outstanding balances, raising invoices and producing interim and final budgetary statements.As at August 2017 the grant portfolio of Biological Sciences and Chemistry was 120 live grants worth ?30m.70%To provide accounting support to Faculty based staff. Including accurate preparation of reports, accounting statements, explanations of account balances and advising upon University financial policies and procedures in given situations.15 %Where applicable assist with procure to pay duties for the Faculty, eg travel and expense claims, supplier invoices and payment queries, raising requisitions, sales invoices and recharges via journals in Agresso in a timely manner.5%Authorising expenditures on Agresso at an appropriate level (currently under ?2k)5%Any other duties as allocated by the line manager following consultation with the post holder.5%Internal and external relationshipsThe post holder will be expected to act as part of a team with the other members of the Faculty business support team. They will need to be able to create and maintain a number of efficient and up to date monitoring and control systems.
