Publicly Available Data Sets

The UA Little Rock IRB has reviewed the list of publicly available data sets posted below and determined that when the data from these data sets are employed in research they do not require IRB review as long as:

1. The data set is in the list of UA Little Rock Inventory of Public Data sets below. 2. Researchers will not merge the data sets in a way that individuals might be identified. 3. Researchers will not enhance the data set with identifiable, or potentially identifiable

information. 4. No additional data from the database owner is sought. 5. A data use agreement is not required.

IRB review and approval is required when: 1. A restricted dataset requires IRB review and approval. 2. The use of a data set requires submission of a proposal. 3. A data use agreement is involved. 4. Additional information is requested from the owner of the database 5. Investigators seek to merge or enhance data sets.
