BOX A: OVERVIEW

>> Watch the lesson video and fill in the blanks below.

When parents lead their kids to faith in Christ, baptism is a common next step. Here are some things for parents to consider:

Baptism is an ________________________ symbol of an _____________________ change. Baptism doesn't _________________ anyone. (Ephesians 2:8-9) Baptism is an act of ___________________ to God. (Matthew 28:19, Acts 2:38) The Bible does not give a precise ____________ for baptism.

BOX B: DISCUSSION

>> Then choose from these items to talk about it.

1. Does your child want to be baptized? Why or why not?

2. Has your child asked Jesus into his or her heart? Can he or she explain sin, salvation, and who Jesus is in a way that is age-appropriate? (See Foundations for Kids to help you answer these questions.)

3. Read Ephesians 2:8-9. If baptism doesn't save anyone, why do we do it? Do you think your child understands these things?

4. Do you think your child is ready for baptism? Why or why not? (See the checklist in Box C.)
