Immaculate Heart of Marye-Reader Acceptable Use PolicyElectronic readers are digital devices that can store books, periodicals, magazines, and other electronic media. Readers like Amazon’s Kindle, Barnes & Noble’s Nook, and Apple’s iPad are quickly making their way into the classroom. Immaculate Heart of Mary is allowing students to use these devices in accordance with our e-Reader Acceptable Use Policy. This opportunity is a privilege that requires extra caution and responsibility both on the part of the students and their parents. A student who violates any portion of the e-Reader Acceptable Use Policy:1st Violation: e-Reader will be sent to the office and a parent will be asked to pick it up at the end of the day.2nd Violation: Student will immediately lose the privilege to use their e-Reader at school for the remainder of the academic year.All e-Readers must be registered with the Immaculate Heart of Mary Technology Coordinator and accompanied by the Acceptable Use Agreement Form signed both by the parents and the student.E-Readers are to be used only for the reading of school approved material (books, etc.) and not for other purposes such as communication, entertainment, music, gaming, camera, etc.All material on the e-Reader must comply with the spirit and policies of Immaculate Heart of Mary School and the Archdiocese of Baltimore.All e-Readers must have cellular and network capabilities turned off while the device is at school.E-Readers must be used at appropriate times in accordance with teacher instructions. The e-Reader must not be a distraction for the student or those around him/her.Immaculate Heart of Mary does not hold any responsibility if e-Readers are lost or damaged.Please Return: Parent Guardian Agreement:I authorize my child to bring his/her e-Reader to Immaculate Heart of Mary School with the understanding that it is to be used as a tool for reading only and that my child will comply with the e-Reader Acceptable Use Policy.I understand that Immaculate Heart of Mary School is not responsible for any damage or loss associated with my child’s e-Reader.
