Adjunct ESL Instructor

Position summary

The English as a Second Language (ESL) Instructor is

responsible for providing instruction to students enrolled in the

various ESL programs. The ESL Program offers Basic Skills ESL,

Refugee ESL, Academic ESL, Continuing Education ESL, and

Pre-GED for ESL. Responsibilities include teaching, development

of course curricula and instructional materials, student

assessment and student record keeping.

Experience teaching ESL to adults.

Degree and/or certification in TESOL or related field;

Master¡¯s in ESL or related field required for some

assignments.

Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Basic computer literacy with Microsoft Office and Google

Docs, as well as familiarity with social media platforms.

Commitment to the mission and philosophy of the

Community College.

Essential Functions

Essential Functions:

? Provide high-quality instruction to English as Second Language

participants employing current ESL techniques, methodologies

and best practices.

? Develop program specific course syllabi and instructional

materials .

? Provide counseling and mentoring support to newly arrived

students as needed.

? Assess student progress and align instruction to meet the needs

of students.

? Share techniques and trends with ESL colleagues and staff.

? As appropriate, administer pre-test to all incoming students;

conduct learning assessments.

? Assist with registration for ESL classes as needed.

? Attend required professional development workshops.
