Distance Learning Driver Education

The Distance Learning Driver Education course consists of Zoom classroom instruction and in-car instruction. Students have one 90 minute session of Distance Learning instruction per week. These sessions are live, not recorded, and students need to participate in them live.

Due to the current COVID-19 crisis, Parents/guardians provide the in-car instruction. Bishop Ludden provides the parent/guardian with specific and detailed information regarding the in-vehicle instruction, observation, and applied practice that the parents/guardians will deliver. The course is approved by the New York State Education Department. Successful completion will entitle the student to receive a MV 285 (formerly know as a “blue card”) and an insurance reduction certificate.

FEE: $250

AGE: Must be 16 years old by January 14, 2021

MV 285: Issued approximately May 17, 2021

*NYS DMV Insurance premium reduction issued upon successful completion of course

No refunds will be given except in the case of course cancellation. State regulations require that a student meet a minimum attendance standard. Blue cards cannot be issued to students who do not meet attendance requirements.
