VETERANS AFFAIRS OFFICE VIRTUAL COURSE GUIDELINESCPCC currently offers “eLearning” through distance learning courses offered online (web-based) Tele-courses broadcast on Time Warner Cable Channel 17 in Mecklenburg County, NC Information Highway courses and videoconference courses. Distance learning courses are designed for students who need reduced classroom time and greater flexibility with their schedule. All courses must be required for graduation and count as core courses or electives.As of January 15, 2019, CPCC has added a new pre-registration requirement for students taking online courses called the Online Learning Intro. The Online Learning Intro is an interactive orientation designed to prepare students to take online courses at CPCC by providing them with the relevant information, skills, and mindset needed to be successful in a fully online course. It is housed in Blackboard (CPCC’s learning management system, which is the system the college uses to deliver online courses). Students receiving Veterans Affairs Educational Benefits (Chapters 30, 33, 1606, 1607, 35) may be eligible to receive payment for Virtual Campus courses (see below). Students receiving Chapter 31 (VA Voc Rehab Program) must get approval from their VA Case Manager prior to enrolling in Virtual Courses.VA Students planning to enroll in Virtual Courses at Central Piedmont Community College are required to meet the following criteria to be eligible for certification of VA Educational Benefits per Federal/State/College Policies:The student has to have completed or transferred in 12 credit hours of graduation requirements for current program.The student has to also have a GPA of 2.0 prior to enrolling in the Internet courses and at least a 2.0 GPA at the end of each term to continue eligibility.3. Remedial and Developmental courses that are offered as Internet/Tele-course/Blended are not eligible for certification for Veterans Affairs educational benefits. Remedial/Developmental courses are courses with numbers less than 100 such as DRE 096, DMA 020, etc. All Remedial/Developmental courses including required labs must be taken in classroom settings only for VA certification per Federal Law.4. Students have to correspond with CPCC’s VA Office through their CPCC email address only.Important Notice for Chapter 33 (Post-9/11) students: Per VA Federal regulations a reduced amount of BAH will be paid to students enrolled solely in virtual courses based on percentage of eligibility and hours enrolled.
