August 12-13, 2002 SES Annual Conference

The Annual Standards Engineering Society Conference, ”The Changing Landscape of Standardization—Challenge and Response,” will feature two ANSI education and training courses. Course registration information is available from the SES website.

August 30, 2002 World Standards Day Paper Contest—Submission Deadline

Open exclusively to U.S.-based organizations and individuals, the annual WSD paper competition focuses on this year’s theme, “Standards Mean Business.” The first and second place winners will receive their awards at a special ceremony during the World Standards Day Exhibits, Reception and Banquet on Wednesday, October 16, 2002 in Washington, DC. To participate, please visit the Standards Engineering Society website for the entry form and rules.

September 15, 2002 100 Standards That Make a Difference--Submission Deadline

This online survey allows ANSI’s members and constituents the opportunity to single out a standard or family of standards they believe to be “most valuable” and identify how these standards relate to business or consumer issues. To participate, please log on to survey or follow the links from the ANSI Online home page.

October 14-18, 2002 World Standards Week

The U.S. standardization and conformity assessment community will celebrate World Standards Week 2002 with an exciting and varied mix of meetings, events and ceremonies during the week of October 14-18 in Washington, DC.

Once again, the Institute will showcase an interesting array of guest speakers at the ANSI 2002 Annual Conference on October 15-16. One of the event’s breakout sessions deals with personnel certification on a global level. “Breaking Down International Borders: Determining the Professional Equivalency of People,” features representatives from the Department of Labor, professional, credentialing and business organizations and a legal firm who will discuss the complexities of this important issue.

In addition, the Institute will honor the achievements of deserving members of the standards and conformity assessment community at the ANSI Annual Awards Banquet and Ceremony, immediately following the Annual Conference Reception on October 15.
