MEMORIALS

Stanley M. Horton went to be with the Lord July 12, 2014, in Springfield, MO. Dr. Horton was 98 year old. He taught at the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary from 19781991. Prior to that he was a faculty member at Central Bible College from 1948-1978. He wrote the Assemblies of God Adult Teacher Sunday school curriculum for over 25 years. He published more than 250 articles and book reviews. His life achievements brought him many awards. He is survived by sons, Stan '69, Ed '71, daughter, Faith '78, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

John Edward "Jack" Goggin passed away August 26, 2014, at the age of 74, due to complications associated with Alzheimer's disease. Jack attended Assemblies of God Theological Seminary for four years and taught business management at Evangel University from 1983-91. He is survived by his wife, Karen, eight children, and 17 grandchildren.

Mary Frances Berkihiser went to be with the Lord on March 7, 2015. She was 102 years old. Mrs. Berkihiser served as head librarian for 20 years at Evangel from 1957-1977. She was named a Tree of Honor recipient in 2010 by the Evangel Alumni Association.

R.B. Vinson passed away May 4, 2014, in Harlingen, TX. He taught accounting in the business department from 1957-1966. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn, six children and many grandchildren.

Mary C. Salituro was a retired employee of Evangel University. She passed away at the age of 94, on July 12, 2014. She is survived by her husband, Vincent, two daughters, three grandsons, and seven great-grandchildren.

William "Bill" Harrell passed away July 1, 2014. Bill was an active member of the Evangel Council and university board of directors. He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Bradley) '82, son, Brad '80, and a daughter.

Wesley W. Smith passed away June 18, 2014. He was a faculty member in the Bible department for Evangel University and the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary for four years in the 1980s. In 1985 to 1996 he served as president of Valley Forge Christian College.

Anna "Pearl" Fender departed this life on June 8, 2014, at the age of 82. Pearl was a part of

the cafeteria staff from 1974-1997. She was presented the Distinguished Service Award for her service to Evangel in 1996. She is survived by her daughter and grandson.

Mary Louise (Brewer) Lapp '36 was 105 years of age at the time of her death on December 28, 2014. She taught music classes at Oregon Bible College, then she and her husband, Clarence '38, moved to Minnesota for a pastoring opportunity. Clarence proceeded her in death. She is survived by her son and daughter, and one grandson.

Suzanne F. (Flower) Earle '38 went to be with the Lord at the age of 98 on July 4, 2014. She and her husband, Albert '39, fulfilled a dream and created Lakewood Lodge, for hosting retreats, camps and conferences for the Christian community. Albert preceded her in death.

Richard W. Bishop '38 passed away August 7, 2014, at the age of 96. Dr. Bishop earned his doctorate of ministry from the North American Baptist Seminary in Sioux Falls, SD. He taught at Northwest Bible College in Kirkland, WA, and Assemblies of God Theological Seminary in Springfield, MO, until his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Jacque, daughters, Betty Greve '65, Bonnie Salewski '77, and Cheryl, son Richard II '69, two stepsons, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and four step-grandchildren.

Carl Cookson '40 went to be with the Lord on Jun 11, 2014 in Springfield, MO. After retiring from Lily Tulip, he was a very active member in his local church. He is survived by his daughter, son, four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Margaret (Drespling) Keith '41 died February 14, 2014, at the age of 93. She is survived by her husband, Jack, three daughters, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was an LPN and faithful member of Bethel Assembly of God of Girard, PA.

William W. Vaughan '41 passed away on October 25, 2014, in Pensacola, Fl. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda.

Kathleen White '42 passed away on September 9, 2014, in Springfield, MO. She was 91 years old. She is survived by her two daughters.

Harold Speer '43 passed away on March 6, 2014, at the age of 93 in Tecumseh, MI. He was in pastoral ministry for 53 years with his wife, Opal '41. He is survived by his son.

Claudia M. (Dell) Wakefield '43 went to be with the Lord on November 4, 2013, at the age of 95. She served as a missionary to West Africa with her husband, David, for many years. For the last 25 years she was a part of the Oral Roberts University Prayer Tower prayer line. She is survived by one son, three daughters, nine grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Richard D. Dobbins '45 died June 3, 2014. He founded Emerge Ministries in Akron, OH, one of the nation's first Christian mental health centers. He was featured throughout the United States on television, radio and s a conference speaker. He is survived by his wife, Priscilla, a son and two daughters, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Virginia Clare Hamlin '46 was 90 years old when she passed away on April 10, 2015. She served as the senior adult pastor at First Assembly of God in Battle Creek, MI, before retiring.

Grace W. (Waff) Moore '46 went to be with the Lord October 29, 2014. Grace retired from Kroger Company after 32 years of service and was an ordained minister. She pastored with her husband for 50 years in Texas. She was residing in Franklin, VA.

Mircia Saghin '46 passed away at the age of 98 on May 29, 2014. He and his wife Dorothy (Cushman) '47, served together in the ministry in Illinois. He is survived by his wife, two children, and a granddaughter.

Joyce (Ferguson) Mickenham '47 passed away May 30, 2014, at the age of 90. She worked in the accounting department for 30 years with the Kellogg Company. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray '45.

Vernon W. Whitmore Jr. '48 went to be with the Lord on August 2, 2014. He served in the US Navy, then pastored in the Kansas District of the Assemblies of God for over 55 years. His wife, Vera, preceded him in death. He is survived by his son, two daughters, seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Rebekah "Becky" M. (Bruton) Roepke '48 passed away on October 11, 2014. Becky was employed by the Assemblies of God Credit Union for 25 years and was an active member in her church. She is survived by her husband, Ray '48, sons Mark, Kevin '83, and Brad, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Maynard Gilbert Quaderer '48 went to be with the Lord, August 15, 2014. He was active in his local church, as a song leader in Minneapolis, MN. His wife, Delphine, proceeded him death. He is survived by his three children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Daisey Belle (Mishler) Marselus '48 passed away on October 3, 2014. She was employed by B & L Concessions for 35 years as a bookkeeper. She was the planner and organizer for funeral dinners in her church for 40 years. She is survived by her husband, Herbert W. '49, two sons, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Della Marie "Mary" (Khohn) '48 Ball passed away at 91 years of age on March 9, 2014, in Springfield, MO. She is survived by one son, three grandchildren, and six greatgrandchildren.

Edwin W. Antin '49 passed away at the age of 95 on May 17, 2014. He was an ordained minister for 71 years, pastoring in six states, and recently retired as visitation and interim pastor at Assembly of God in Niagara Falls, NY. He is survived by his wife, Angeline, two sons, two daughters, a step-son, two stepdaughters and 18 grandchildren.

Clarabel (Fouts) Cluney '49 passed away March 16, 2014, in Canton, IL. She played the organ for many years for her church and taught Sunday school. She is survived by her four children, 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Felix O. Coyle '49 passed away June 6, 2014, in Montgomery, OH. After serving in the Navy in WWII, Felix pastored in Arizona, Ohio, and Florida. He is survived by his three daughters, nine grandchildren and 16 greatgrandchildren, four great-great grandchildren.

Lucia Grams `'49, went to be with the Lord on March 2, 2014, at the age of 87. She was a school teacher. Lucia is survived by four step-children, 11 grandchildren and 23 greatgrandchildren.

Esther E. Olson '49 passed away on July 23, 2013, in Madras, OR, at the age of 94. She was a missionary to India for the Assemblies of God, where she worked for The Door of Hope Orphanage in Purlieu, West Bengal. She continued her ministry after retirement in her local church, staying involved with the ladies ministries.

Louis Austin Shelton '49 passed away at the age of 87 on August 23, 2014. Austin served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He pastored in Oregon and South Dakota, then earned his doctorate at the University of South Dakota, working as a school psychologist in Sioux City, IA. He also pastored during this time. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie (Curry) '52, four children, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Ruby Nell (Simmons) Shortes '49 was 94 years old when she passed away on July 5, 2014. She spent 43 years as an Assemblies of God missionary to Guatemala. Ruby is survived by two sons, a daughter, six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild.

James Clifford Revell '49 passed away at the age of 92 on November 22, 2014. He fought at the Battle of the Bulge during WWII. He was a missionary to India and returned home to pastor in Virginia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice (Johnson) '49. He is survived by his four sons and eight grandchildren.

Marvin E. Snyder, Jr. '49 died on August 31, 2014, at the age of 91. Marvin went on to earn a doctorate of ministry at McCormick Theological Seminary. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy as a chaplain. After retiring from the Navy, he was employed as assistant director of Operation Blessing at the Christian Broadcasting Network. He leaves behind his wife, Eda (Holmberg) '49, four sons, one daughter, seven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Louie Frank Robinette '51 went to be with the Lord, November 27, 2014 in Clanton, AL. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bobbie Ann '51, two daughters, three grandsons, and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son.

Bonlyn D. (Hines) Argue '51 went to be with the Lord on August 2014, in Santa Rosa, CA. Bonlyn and her husband pastored for many years in Southern California. After her husband, Watson'51, passed away, Bonlyn accepted a pastorate position in Hong Kong for nine years. She then became dean of women at Northwest University in Kirkland, WA. Bonlyn is survived by three sons, ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Ernest J. Kumpe '52 passed away April 5, 2015 in Exeter, CA. He has ministered as a pastor, board of director member at Southern

California College, AG executive presbyter of Southern California and executive director of Teen Challenge. He also served in WWII as a Boatswain's mate in the South Pacific. He is survived by his two sons, four grandsons and 3 great-grandsons.

Naomi M. (Froats) Taylor '52 passed away July 5, 2014, in Battle Creek, MI. She is survived by her husband, Robert '49, two daughters and two sons. Naomi and Robert pastored and built churches for many years. She also worked as a driver's license secretary for the Michigan Secretary of State for 27 years.

Calvin C. Owens '53 died May 16, 2014, in Springfield, MO. He pastored in Indiana for 30 years and served in WWII US Navy as a gunner on Merchant Marine ships. He is survived by his wife, Eva LaWanda, three children, seven grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Ida Lily (Sutherland) Alvarado '53 went to be with the Lord on November 5, 2014. Ida, being a native from Peru, South America, worked as a Spanish translator and elementary school teacher. She is survived by her husband, David '52, three children and four grandchildren.

Randol Mercer '53 went to be with the Lord on March 17, 2014, after a brief bout with cancer. He pastored for many years in Illinois and served in administration for the Illinois District of the Assemblies of God. He also produced and hosted several years of live local radio broadcasts in Virden, IL. He is survived by his wife, Shirley '51, a daughter, three grandsons, and three great-grandchildren.

Marie A. (Pascuzzi) Bassham '54 passed away October 29, 2014, in Leawood, KS. She is survived by two sons. She enjoyed marriage with her husband of 26 years, before he passed away. She was active in her home church serving others.

Harold Powell '54 entered heaven November 5, 2014, in Jenks, OK. He pastored churches in Nebraska, Missouri and Oklahoma. He participated in many mission trips, prison and teen crisis ministries. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Georgene (Campbell) '51, a son, two daughters, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchhildren.

David C. Crabtree '54 passed away on March 24, 2014, in Baca Raton, FL. He ministered for over 50 years in New Brunswick, Canada, Iowa, and Massachusetts. He is survived

Andrew James Frank, Jr. '54 passed away August 12, 2014 at the age of 90. He ministered for 60 years in Missouri, Arkansas, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Arizona. He also served in WWII in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his four children, 11 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Lois Roberta (Kay) Shroyer '55 passed away on December 6, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis '55, of 53 years. She is survived by her son and daughter, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

W. Jean (Allen) Westlake '55 went to be with the Lord on July 2014. She pastored with her husband, George '59, in seven churches, was a missionary to Latin America, Asia and Europe and co-hosted a live television program for 20 years. She is survived by her husband, George, three daughters, one son, sixteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Edward H. Tarno '55 died at the age of 85 on September 3, 2014, in Grass Lake, MI. He was an ordained minister for many years, pastoring in the Detroit area. He then started a business called Well Built Construction Company and Tarno Manors Incorporated in Royal Oak. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Edythe (Clarke) '55, a son, and a grandson.

Dewayne Dawlson Harris '56 passed away at the age of 77, on July 9, 2014, in Springfield, MO. He was a pastor and carpenter for over 50 years, pastoring in Missouri, Illinois and Arkansas. He is survived by his wife, Susie, a daughter and a son.

Laura Jean Duncombe '56 passed away November 23, 2014. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Geoff '58, and two children, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Laura and Geoff pastored in Kowa, Kansas, Arkansas Nebraska and Wisconsin.

Nellie M. (Moses) Pearson '59 passed away March 10, 2014.

Donald J. Little '59 passed away January 18, 2014. He was a sales manager for Trailways in Dallas and owner of the Trailways Bus Agency in Euless, TX. Don is survived by his

wife, Emily, one son, a daughter and four grandchildren.

Gilbert Lee Grapes '59 passed away October 25, 2014. Gil was the custodian for the Spence chapel at Evangel University for 21 years. Gil took great pride in caring for the chapel. He was an active member of his church. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo '65, of 53 years, two daughters, and three grandchildren.

Dan Mariano '61 sent to be with the Lord on October 10, 2014. He was the pastor of Parkway Assembly of God in Norwalk, CT. He had established a Christian school, nursery school and daycare there. He is survived by his wife, Patti, his son, and four grandchildren.

Margaret "Margo" (Elliott) Cook '62 passed away November 7, 2014, in Springfield, MO. She was raised in India with her missionary parents. Margo and her husband, Doyle, worked together in the RV MAPS program. She is survived by her two daughters and five grandchildren.

L. Michael Ashbrook '62 passed away January 30, 2015, in his nursing home due to a long-term illness. After earning his law degree, Mike formed his own law firm. He was also a successful entrepreneur owning nursing home facilities and other real estate in Monroe, LA. Mike served on the board of his local church and was very activity in foreign ministry opportunities. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Loretta (Barkley) '61, two sons, and three grandsons.

Benita Joan (Compton) Edwards '63 went to be with the Lord on January 19, 2015, in Newport News, VA. Joan was a strong supporter of the arts in her community and church. Her husband, Norman, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter.

Daniel Reuben Peterson '63 passed away on November 21, 2014. He was commissioned an officer in the US Navy Medical Corps while earning his MD. He retired from the military after 30 years and went into civilian practice. He is survived by his wife, Lois (Wiercinski) '66, and a daughter.

Robert E. Lichty '64 went to be with the Lord on April 14, 2015, in Charles City, VA. Bob had emergency surgery which he never woke up from and had recently diagnosed with lymphoma.

Beatrice (Bryde) Damiani '64 went to be with the Lord March 1, 2015, in Quakertown, PA.

She had to opportunity to see the world, including Japan, Ethiopia, Athens, England, Ireland, and the Holy Land. After the death of her first husband, Robert C. Bishop, Beatrice married Pete Damiani in 1996. She gained two step-children, eight step-grandchildren, 14 step-great-grandchildren.

Daniel Lee Ellis '66 passed away November 22, 2014. Daniel served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He retired from Citizens Bank in 2009. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, a son, and step-son, and two granddaughters.

Robert E. Traub '68 passed away on August 29, 2014, at the age of 69. He honorably served in the U.S. Army Military Police in Germany. He retired from the State of Michigan as an auditor. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, son, Jason '97, daughter, Amy, and four grandchildren.

Joyce Ellen (Casso) Silver '69 went to be with the Lord on October 16, 2014. She worked as a charge nurse and clinical instructor of thoracic nursing. She led a cancer support group in her church and was a part of the EU Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband, Gerald of 41 years, and daughter, Naomi, and son, David '01.

Joyce Annette Horst '70 departed this life on September 22, 2014, after her battle with cancer. Joyce taught school for many years, teaching special education, computer, reading and piano. She was also a certified International Animal Therapist.

Donna (Dane) Lawrence '70 passed away at the age of 67 on February 6, 2015, in Concord, NH. She was employed by Blue Cross and Blue Shield for over 30 years. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Martin, two sons, two daughters, and six grandchildren.

Robert Thomas "Tom" McCarley Jr. '71 passed away at age 66 on February 15, 2015. He was in ministry and missionary capacities. Then he owned his own screen printing company for many years. He is survived by his wife, Jill, their five daughters, and seven grandchildren.

Esther "Kay" (Mullen) Langston '71 passed away February 18, 2014, from liver cancer. She earned her doctorate from Faith Bible College in Independence, MO. and ministered in her local church. She leaves behind one son, two daughters, 18 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

4 SPRING 2015

Virginia Lee Arnold '72 passed away on September 20, 2014. Virginia taught at Central Bible College for over 30 years, alongside her husband, Forest, Sr. She is survived by their four children, Forest Jr., Cynthia Cathcart '78, Kenneth '76, Katheryne Lay '78, 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Ronald George Turner '72 passed away at the age of 63 on March 27, 2014. He pastored in Fort Worth, TX, and worked at a Christian Counseling Center. He is survived by his wife, Doris (Batty) '72, three daughters, and three grandchildren.

Ronald C. Altis '73 of Forsyth, MO, passed away January 25, 2015, at the age of 63 from cancer. He owned his own medical supply company. He was a talented composer and guitar player and volunteered his time in his local church and a Teen Challenge program.

Timothy Fjordbak '73 passed away January 6, 2015. He left his private practice and took a position at a V.A. hospital in Fort Bliss working with post-traumatic stress disorder, brain injury and other mental issues.

James Dishman'74 passed away April 6, 2014. He was a resident of Covington, GA.

Robert Haynes Bender '75 passed away September 17, 2014, at the age of 73. Bob retired from Springfield Public Schools after 26 years. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca, and their son, Robert '05.

William Massey '76 passed away on October 24, 2014, in Sycamore, IL. He is survived by his wife, Sherry '76.

Douglas Littleton Gordon Jr. '76 passed away at age 65 on March 15, 2014, in Baton Rouge, LA. He is survived by a daughter and son.

Terry B. Broadwater '79 passed away at the age of 52 due to a fall while hiking with his son in the high Himalayan peaks, ministering to villagers in the mountain towns. Terry was the pastor of Grace Community Church near Denver, CO. He leaves behind his wife, JoAnn, three children and two grandchildren.

Thomas Lynn Beard '81 passed away on May 11, 2014, in Colorado Springs. He is survived by his wife, Zarette, and his son.

David Wieseman '81 passed away October 1, 2014, at the age of 59, from cancer in Tulsa, OK. He is survived by his wife, Catherine, and three children.

Andrea Joan Brock '81 departed this life on December 10, 2013, in Tulsa, OK, at the age of 54. She went on to earn a master's degree in social work at the University of Missouri. Her father was Raymond Brock, professor at Evangel University.

Jonathan E. Faggart '82 died March 11, 2014. He was an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God and pastored several churches in North Carolina, Florida, Virginia, and Texas. He was also the music director for Pen FL District. He is survived by his wife, Janet (Bruner) '82, who is also a licensed minister, a son and daughter, and granddaughter.

Lori Jeanne Steinbach '82 went to be with the Lord June 3, 2014. Lori taught high school English for 27 years. She was later involved in missions work in Cuba through her local church in Maryville, TN.

Dawn Dee (Christian) Thomas '82 died after a long battle with LeioMyoSarcoma on January 8, 2014. She earned a Ph.D. in developmental and child psychology from Kansas University in Lawrence, KS. She is survived by her husband, John, and a son.

Michael William Wallace '82 passed away at the age of 55 on March 7, 2014. He was a teacher and coach in Texas, then employed at Denison, S&S and Callisburg, where he ended his career. He is survived by his wife, Miriam (Wilkerson) '82.

Alan E. Stein '82 passed away suddenly at the age of 60 on January 18, 2015. He was the pastor of Neighborhood Assembly of God in Bellmore, NY, since 1991. He was also the presbyter for the Long Island Section. He is survived by his wife, Lynda, and three sons.

Douglas W. Loftis '86 passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 50. Doug was the senior pastor at Cornerstone Assembly of God in East Windham, ME. He also earned a Master of Divinity in 1992 from Assemblies of God Theological Seminary. He is survived by his wife, Beth, and three sons.

Jeffery Dale Butler '87 passed away January 26, 2014 in Round Rock, TX, after a battle with a rare thyroid cancer. He was 53 years old. Jeff was a voice and piano major and shared his passion with others. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Lisa Marie, and three children.

Shirley Ann Randtke '90 passed away at the age of 89 on April 1, 2015. Shirley, a

registered nurse, came to Evangel after raising her family to earn a degree in psychology. She was living in Lawrence, KS, at her passing.She is survived by her son, two daughters, seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Tracie Reanee Smith '90 passed away at the age of 48 on April 10, 2015. She dedicated her life to children's ministry while residing Camden, AR.

Donald Spencer '91 of Carlock, IL, passed away suddenly at the age of 42 on August 23, 2014, due to a heart attack. Don was a member of the EU football team that played in China. He was a carpenter for the last 25 years. Donald is survived by his wife, Ginger, a son and daughter.

Charles Raymond Martin '94, age 42, died January 24, 2015. He was senior vice president of Union State Bank in Broken Arrow, OK. He is survived by his wife, Jayme, and two children.

Dori (Israel) Tamariz '95 went to be with the Lord at the age of 43, unexpectedly on September 28, 2014. She was a tax professional at H&R Block. She is survived by her husband, Paul, and eight children.

Stephen Kent Biermann '96 passed away on October 23, 2014. After earning his Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, he joined the faculty of the Willard School District. He later took a position at Ozarks Technical College in administration. He is survived by his three children and a grandson.

Scott Bryant Leffert '04 went to be with the Lord on October 31, 2014, of complications from cancer. Scott was a minister to the deaf and was awarded a Certificate of Ministry in 2011 by the Rocky Mountain Council of the Assemblies of God.

BIRTHS

Sadie Cassandra was born February 26, 2014, to Josh '09 and Sara (Beam) '08 Allen.

Judah was born June 23, 2014, to Joe '10 and Sara (Fowler) '10 Banks. Joe is on staff at Solid Rock Church in Midland, GA.

Luke Robert was born February 24, 2014, to Patricia (Judd) '01 and Robert Asher. Luke joins Caleb, who is 2 years old.
