Well the opposite of selfishness is selflessness. That is where you do exactly as the Bible says and become a blessing to other people. That means you give up your time, your talents, your gifts to help other people and bless them. The Bible shows us the importance of selflessness in the powerful words of Jesus in Matthew 25 and He talks about those who will receive the kingdom and those who will not. In this parable Jesus says it’s those who don’t have selfish desires but those who see others in need of compassion and are moved to do something for them. A Closer Look at Kindness, Matthew 25:35-39Matthew 25:35-39The Passion Translation35?For when you saw me hungry, you fed me. When you found me thirsty, you gave me something to drink. When I had no place to stay, you invited me in,?36?and when I was poorly clothed, you covered me. When I was sick, you tenderly cared for me, and when I was in prison you visited me.’37?“Then the godly will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty and give you food and something to drink??38?When did we see you with no place to stay and invite you in? When did we see you poorly clothed and cover you??39?When did we see you sick and tenderly care for you, or in prison and visit you?’Many times, we think of the miraculous as someone being healed at that very second, someone blind receiving their sight, someone deaf receiving their hearing. However, the Bible says in James 1:27 that pure religion is make a difference in the lives of people. Yes, those other miracles are important, but sometimes a miracle is as simple as taking out the garbage for your parents without them having to repeat themselves, or sharing your lunch with a friend in need. We are always looking for the big miracles and we miss the small ones. Can God’s voice point out ways for you to be a blessing? There are things that we can do to be a blessing to others. If you are an older sibling helping your younger sibling with homework. Writing someone, you love a card with words that build him or her up and encourage him or her.Giving up YouTube time to spend quality time with your family. I.e. cooking time, family devotion time, family worship time. Find someone to be a blessing to this week anyway you can, and in blessing others, you will find that God will bless you. ................
