Community Health, Disaster Preparedness, Public Health, Diabetes, Chronic wound care, ostomy care, health care disparities, working with diverse populations, Cultural Competencies.
In addition I have been selected to present a quantitate study at the American Nephrology Association meeting April 14-19, 2018. This study is entitled “The highs and lows of protein. What do our peritoneal dialysis patients really know? This research will also be submitted for publication very soon.
Courses Taught:
I have taught face to face courses from 2004 until present. These courses include:

Community Theory in both the traditional BSN programs and also for the online RN to BSN program.
Cultural Competency course online for both traditional students and for RN to BSN programs.
Community Clinical faculty and coordinator for senior year 2007-present.
Served as preceptor for Clinical Nurse Specialist students and Doctoral students as needed.
Course Development/revision at Arkansas State University
I revised the Cultural Competency for the Health Care Providers and teach this course online fall and spring each year.
I developed a course in Patient Safety for the Bachelor of Health Science program.
I have revised the Community Theory course for the RN to BSN program.
Course Development at Colorado Christian University
I was contracted as adjunct faculty for the summer of 2016 to develop and online course for Health Promotion. This course was a seven week course in which I worked with the course builder. Developed syllabus, student learning outcomes, projects, discussion boards and exams.
Grants submitted but not funded:
#01: Arkansas Community Foundation Grant to support the Water is Cool program. Submitted April 2015 but not funded. $20,000.
#02: Blue Cross Blue and You Grant for Immunization project to increase immunizations of incoming freshman against flu and meningitis. This was submitted July 2014. Amount not funded $150,000. In response to not receiving this grant we have worked with Arkansas Department of health and will be having a mass flu clinic on our campus in October 2016. It is now a requirement by the Arkansas Department of Health that children receive the meningitis vaccines as a part of attending public school.
#02: Grant submitted to AADE for support for new Diabetes Clinic to be opened fall 2012. I will serve as the program coordinator for the new free diabetes center which will be housed on ASU-Jonesboro campus fall 2012. The grant was not funded but we received funding from the University to open up the clinic in fall 2012.
