REPORTING SUBSTANCE ABUSE SUSPENSIONS

Please provide the following when making a substance abuse referral:

• Name of student and parent, along with the contact information i.e. home, work & cell phone numbers for parent/guardian
SUBSTANCE ABUSE SERVICES PROVIDED:
Conduct a comprehensive substance abuse evaluation for students suspended for drug or alcohol related offenses per School Board Policy 5006 and refer for drug intervention services. Follow-up provided to the referring administrator.
Provide consultation services for high-risk students who may be involved with alcohol or other drugs and link with appropriate intervention programs. Referrals can come from administration, guidance, parents, etc.
EXPULSION CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES:
Provide case management services for students who are being recommended for expulsion. Services include placement into one of the Expulsion Abeyance Programs, i.e. Cypress Run or Court Ordered Programs. Students in the Abeyance Program have their educational progress monitored as well as their attendance. They are linked with appropriate counseling programs and community service is required. The student will be transitioned back to their home school at the completion of the term of expulsion.
