Dear Arlington Families,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the

2021-2022 school year. While we still find ourselves

grappling with the complexities of the Covid-19 pandemic,

we are hopeful that this school year will be reflective of

years past, prior to the pandemic. Although there are still

restrictions in place that prohibit a complete return to

normalcy, it is our goal to make this school year engaging,

relevant, and meaningful for our students.

An essential area of our focus this year will be on

supporting each of our students academically, socially, and

emotionally. Our faculty and staff are excited to welcome

our amazing students back in September, and we are

going to do everything we can to ease their transition back

to a regular school environment.

For the 2021-2022 school year, we are returning to our

normal 8 period bell schedule that begins at 7:30 am and

ends at 2:15 pm. We know that our students enjoyed the

scheduled breaks last year, but we are unable to continue

to accommodate that schedule this year.

Finally, we have some introductions to make. Ms. Deborah

Bryant is now the House Principal for the Class of 2024,

and her Assistant Principal is Ms. Jessie Laguerre. Also,

Dr. Anna Tihin has returned to AHS as the Interim House

Principal for the Class of 2023. Finally, Ms. Melissa

Rosselli is now the Assistant Principal for the Class of

2025. The four of them bring a wealth of experience and

energy to Arlington High School, and I know that you will

enjoy working with them as they support our students.

Sincerely,

John Orcutt

regarding standardized testing prep and course selections, please visit the AHS Guidance Web Page. You

for finding the right college program. You can learn more about this at College Navigator.

For Career Planning, the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes a large amount

of information on employment and wages by occupation. This includes career information, employment

levels and projections, and various types of earnings data. Learn more here.

(9th Grade Orientation Program)

We are excited to welcome our incoming 9th grade students to Arlington High School on Monday, August

30, Tuesday, August 31, and Wednesday, September 1 to our Summer Bridge program! The activity-filled

sessions during Summer Bridge are intended to build relationships among freshmen, acclimate them to

the building, and introduce them to some of the staff and upperclass students. The program consists of

an innovative, energizing interdisciplinary curriculum that gives new students the opportunity to see and

understand the wide range of learning experiences they can expect at Arlington High School (AHS).

Students have the benefit of spending time with their new peers in small group settings, familiarizing

themselves with the AHS campus and its academic and social culture.

For information on the daily activities planned for Summer Bridge 2021, please click: Summer Bridge.

Important Attendance Information

All schools in the ACSD will collect and report daily teacher/student engagement or attendance regardless

of the instructional setting. This will occur whether school opens in September in-person, hybrid, or remote.

Attendance policies and procedures will be communicated with families and students prior to the start of

the school year or if the instructional model changes during the year. Teachers will record daily attendance

in our student management system based on the required daily scheduled student contact and

engagement. Contact with the families will be made to determine reasons for absence and needs or

barriers the student may have to participate in daily lessons.

If your student is unable to access learning in a virtual or hybrid schedule due to sickness or other reason,

use the below email to communicate to the attendance office. In your email, please add the following:

(1) the student¡¯s full name
