Morales discussed the importance of member agency representatives as committee members on the Agency Services Committee. It is through open dialogue with agency representatives, volunteers, staff, and board members that we will ensure a positive relationship with our agencies.Through open discussions we can respond to the needs of our agencies.Chautauqua CountyNo representative presentErie CountyD. Burgher discussed the updates of the Mobile Pantry Program 3 New Sites of note:Black Rock/Riverside: Collaboration between Black Rock/Riverside Food Pantry, Friends of Night People, DePaul Properties, and Asamblea De Iglesia Cristianas.First distribution served 98 households, 253 individuals East Community High School: Full Service Community School, and one of our School Pantries. This distribution will be held on SaturdaysFirst distribution served 85 households, 316 individualsMercy Comprehensive Care Center: Collaboration between Catholic Health and Catholic Charities, serving individuals in Perry District. First collaboration with Mobile Pantry Program and a Healthcare OrganizationFirst distribution served 148 households, 437 individualsThe Fill the BackPack Campaign, which ran from Sunday June 3rd – Sunday June 17th raised 164,468 pounds. FBWNY partnered with Wegmans, Channel 4 WIVB, and Fidelis Care through this campaign to collect food for the BackPack Program.Poundage is down from previous year’s total, however changes were made to the menu for items that better serve the BackPack Program.FBWNY was awarded a $50,000 grant through Morgan Stanley to expand the BackPack Program:This grant will allow FBWNY to expand the BackPack Program to an additional 6 schools for the 2018-2019 school year, schools include:, schools include:Buffalo Public School #53Buffalo Public School #32Buffalo Public School #99Niagara Charter SchoolMaryvale IntermediateBuffalo Public School #91 (has not been responsive, looking into other options if they do not wish to continue)Agency Services UpdateM. Daloia discussed the updates of the HOPE Summit:Friday September 14th, 2018 at The Millennium Hotel Four training sessions available for agencies:Collaboration and Retail PartnershipsEmergency PreparednessGrants/Online Ordering Customer ServiceAgencies will also be breaking out by agency type in order to meet and discuss best practices with other agencies who do the same work.M. Daloia updated the group on the status of Direct Delivery in Niagara County: After meeting internally, there are 3 possible options for direct delivery:Shipping out of Buffalo WarehouseSecuring a new warehouse in Niagara CountyPartnering with another agencyGroup is leaning toward option #1: Shipping directly out of Buffalo Warehouse. This option comes with both positives and negatives. Namely, we are coming across issues concerning staging orders in the warehouse.A communication will go out to all Niagara County Agencies on 8/15 with an update on the status of Direct DeliveryWe are hoping to roll this out before the winter hits, but early Spring will be the latest it will happen.M. Dalioa discussed that after rolling out direct delivery in other counties, there was an increase in poundage that was ordered. Agencies will also be self-selecting USDA product as opposed to receiving what is assigned to them.M. Daloia discussed the status of HPNAP Grants for agencies (Operation Support, HPNAP Food, and Seed Grants):Happy Grant Season! The change in the HPNAP grant cycle has changed when grants are due. HPAP grant cycle is now November 1st – October 31st. Grants were posted on August 3rd, due September 28th, and they will receive award notices in November.FBWNY is offering three sessions for technical support to agencies (two for Operation Support Grant, and one for Seed Grant). All dates and times of technical support are posted on the Primarius Web Window for agencies to access.Other BusinessR. Morales discussed the Freight Farm at SEFCU. The storage container that grows greens at SEFCU produces 1,000 heads of lettuce per week. Installation of a Freight Farm costs approximately $100,000.M. Buyer expressed concerns of the ongoing cost (i.e. electric, water bills). R. Morales will research what the costs are.E. Burgher and M. Daloia updated the group on their trip to Anaheim, CA for the Feeding America Feed, Nourish, Connect Conference. Both took a lot away from breakout sessions, meeting their counterparts at other food banks, and have benefitted from learning more about the next Feeding America Strategic Plan.E. Burgher discussed that a large focus was on partnerships between food banks and healthcare organizations, linking hunger and health.
