JOB TITLE: BUILDING MAINTENANCE PERSON - ELECTRICIAN

A. OVERALL PURPOSE/SUMMARY

Under general supervision, perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in maintaining buildings and grounds; and perform related work as required.

B. SCOPE OF DEPARTMENT

Plant Operation or Maintenance.

C. INTERFACES

Internal:

Interface with District personnel throughout the organization

External:

Interface with the consultants, vendors .

D. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Performs any combination of (but not limited to) the following duties according to specific department guidelines:

1. Maintain buildings and building equipment in good operating condition; inspect building and make necessary repair to structure and equipment such as painting interior and exterior surfaces.

2. Making carpentry repairs and erecting partitions, making plaster and plumbing repairs.

3. Making masonry and bricklaying repairs, repairing broken glass and adjusting and maintaining heating and cooling equipment.

4. Maintain exterior grounds, landscaping sidewalks, driveways and parking lots in clean condition.

5. Raking leaves, removing snow and ice and spreading salt on walks and driveways when necessary.

6. Review work orders and approve requests for supplies and materials; inspect completed work for compliance with specifications and good craftsmanship.

7. Maintain building supplies and supervise the movement of office furniture and the preparation of building facilities for occupants.

8. Inspect District owned properties and vacant lots and order maintenance and repair work as needed to maintain properties in good condition.

9. May supervise related maintenance functions; keep records and prepare reports.

10. Observe safe work practices.

11. *Perform other related work as required.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

E. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Minimum Requirements

1. Graduation from high school and four years of experience in the skilled building trades; such as electrical, plumbing, bricklaying or carpentry; or skilled building maintenance work. Additional related education may be substituted for work experience.

1. Ability to maintain assigned building and grounds; ability to read and understand diagrams and drawings; ability to work effectively with others.

2. The specific skill required for this position is a Building Trades, Skilled Labor, and Electrician. Must have a general knowledge of general maintenance of buildings and the ability to operate heavy equipment, power and hand tools.

F. LICENSE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR PERMIT

Minimum Requirements

1. Possession of a valid CDL (Commercial Drivers License) issued by the State of Ohio, class "A" and no air brake restriction, either at the time of appointment to the position or prior to the completion of the probationary period.

2. Driving record that is acceptable to District’s insurance carrier.
