|Role Overview: |

|CSIRO Education & Outreach develops and delivers high quality science, technology, engineering and maths programs for teachers, students and |

|the community in order to create a scientifically literate nation. |

| |

|CSIRO Education and Outreach has over 35 years’ experience developing and delivering large-scale, multi-year national STEM education programs.|

|The team has established platforms, systems and processes that deliver STEM programs to over 500,000 students and teachers each year. The |

|programs are supported through ongoing commitments and investments from funders (including corporate, government and philanthropic funders) |

|and extensive collaboration with CSIRO research based Business Units. |

| |

|The successful candidate will lead the BD effort to develop our education product offering, build market intelligence and identify business |

|growth opportunities. Through their understanding of CSIRO's Education & Outreach capabilities and of the market, the role will create |

|opportunities, matching CSIRO's capabilities to education needs for the benefit of Australia. |

| |

|Working collaboratively with the Director, BD & C and the Education leadership team the role is responsible for building and monitoring a |

|portfolio of external relationships and pipeline of funding opportunities aligned to our Education & Outreach business goals. The successful |

|candidate will work with clients and internal stakeholders to identify strategic BD opportunities and close complex deals. |

|Duties and Key Result Areas: |

|Develop the CSIRO Education & Outreach education product offering, build market intelligence and identify business growth opportunities for |

|Education & Outreach. |

|Develop, manage and maintain, a portfolio of commercial relationships aligned to the Education & Outreach strategy and plans. |

|Develop strategic commercial plans for Education & Outreach incorporating insight into market needs and opportunities, effectively utilising |

|available business and market information. |

|Lead and monitor or support Education leads in the execution of a BD strategy for Education & Outreach to achieve commercial objectives and |

|proactively identify, guide and support the conversion of BD opportunities. |

|Plan and lead or support the development of complex bids and negotiate with clients to close high quality deals in collaboration with internal|

|support functions. |

|Maintain opportunity pipeline and workflow systems to ensure accurate forecasting and visibility of opportunities across Services businesses. |

|Develop and apply a strong knowledge Education & Outreach strategies, policies, processes, systems and tools relevant to BD, including |

|operational planning, commercial governance mechanisms and pipeline management. |

|Proactively create a portfolio of ‘trusted advisor’ relationships with Education leadership team, strategic clients, partners, and key |

|internal stakeholders to drive BD activities and achieve objectives. |

|Utilising internal networks, a demonstrated ability to build and lead transaction teams to close large complex deals. |

|Work within CSIRO and with clients to maximise and broaden value of relationships. |

|Selection Criteria: |

|Under CSIRO policy only those who meet all essential criteria can be appointed |

|Pre-Requisites: |

|Education/Qualifications: A degree in science, engineering, business or marketing with 2-3 years’ experience in a business development role |

|or equivalent experience. |

|Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills, evidenced by high-level reporting, presentation and negotiation abilities, |

|and the capacity to identify and influence critical stakeholders to gain support for contentious proposals/ideas. |

|Behaviours: A history of professional and respectful behaviours and attitudes in a collaborative environment. |

|Adaptability: Demonstrated flexibility in thinking, and responding to organisational change by adapting strategies, goals and priorities. |

|Problem Solving: Proven ability to anticipate and manage problems in ambiguous situations, develop appropriate solutions based on thorough |

|evaluation and interpretation, and defend the conclusions with reasoned arguments. |

|Selection Criteria: |

|Demonstrated ability to develop or manage and maintain, a portfolio of commercial relationships aligned to the Education & Outreach strategy |

|and plans. |

|Demonstrated ability to maintain opportunity pipeline and workflow systems to ensure accurate forecasting and visibility of opportunities. |

|Demonstrated understanding of commercial BD principles, negotiation, markets, business and technology trends and issues relevant to Education |

|& Outreach. |

|Strong team player with demonstrated experience relevant to utilising the broader BD&C team, Education & Outreach team, and internal and |

|external networks in delivering results, as well as sharing knowledge and learnings and leveraging expertise as a collective approach. |
