B. Old business
C. New Business
1. Hockey Day in Minnesota- Plan to keep rink for an extended time so all teams can play on it at least once. Need volunteers- no teams out of town would be the request. May include as part of DIBS. Monetary donations through MN Wild foundation and Caribou Coffee may be available. Would like Hockey Day Minnesota Tab on website. July announcement for the date of the event- Wild will come and broadcast on FSN. Float for July Parade?- BYHA and HDM.
2. Sanford Trainers Discussion- looking for feedback on how the season has been going. Concerned with the return to play process. Working on developing better communications between trainers, doctors, coaches. EMTs make the final call per Mark Elliot. Need to communicate in tournament rules that EMTs have rule.
3. HDC Girls Rep- number of parents would like a girl representative on the HDC. Corey Rupp, Kurt Knott, Casey Reierson are all involved with the girls program and already on the HDC committee. HDC meetings are always posted on website- 630am every second Monday in BCA meeting room.
4. Hotel Rooms for Parent Coaches? - Historically not covered as parents are generally at the games anyway.
5. Jacob Leclair Squirt B Blue assistant coach. Motion to approve as coach by Jennifer Nelson, seconded by Angie Loveless. No further discussion, motion passed.
6. Additional games for teams not participating in districts. Request by C/B2 for more games, some games cancelled and would like to see them replaced seeing they do not have district games. Scheduler attempting to find games.
7. New Jersey Process- On a 3 year plan and the last teams will receive next year. 8000-9000$ per year has been the cost/ year. So all teams should have new jerseys by next year.
8. Tryout evaluation/process- Mite players moving up are concerned about how the tryout process is conducted and would like it more transparent. Need to provide more information to parents about the tryout process. There are non coach evaluators at every level.
9. Gate fees for out of town tournaments- Gate fees are being paid by parents. It would be a large expense to cover gate fees for all teams and would likely result in a registration fee increase
10. BCAC update regarding ice situation in Bemidji. Sanford project delay. Attempts made to negotiate with ISD 31. BCAC feels like its time to proceed with 2nd sheet of ice and believes it can be ready in one year. BCAC would like letter to proceed with 2nd sheet of ice. Meeting with donor next week and looking at future work session.
11. Little Wild program will be returning next year. Corey Rupp has already booked the ice at the Sanford center.
12. Captains patches will continue to be covered by teams and will not be paid for by the association.
Committee Discussion
DIBS- some shifts were not filled. There are open shifts that still need to be filled. VFW and regional shifts are upcoming. Need to discuss opening and closing shifts as being longer in order to get cleaning and preparations done.
Grievance- 2 received by email and completed. One grievance concerned bullying – both parties were contacted- met with grievance board. Teams involved had a discussion with Bruce Hasbargen and a video was shown regarding bullying. The second grievance a player was having issues with teammates. Parents met with board. No further action was deemed necessary. Findings were communicated.
Referees- Complaints noted and to be addressed in the offseason.
Raffle- Termite/Mite coaches need to communicate more with registrar. Need to have some kind of checklist that needs to be done before kids get on ice, so we don’t have kids on the ice that are not registered.
Open Discussion
Adjournment motion made by Jennifer Nelson and seconded by Angie Loveless to adjourn. No further discussion and motion passed. Meeting adjourned at 808 pm.
