Our course has been designed to serve specifically students of diverse Latin American cultures, whose primary language is Spanish. The success of the course is based on students' commitments and efforts. The use of all provided resources is important, since each of them has been carefully selected to help you understand the concepts, vocabulary and even the Spanish meaning.GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE TESTGetting Ready for the TExESPreparing for a Texas Examination of Essential Skills TEXES exams should not be taken lightly. Taking either the exam without adequate preparation, whether it be the content area exam?or the pedagogy and professional responsibilities exam (PPR), can only result in scores lower than expected. The information provided here will serve as an aid in your preparation. However, it does not guarantee a passing score, as the final outcome is the responsibility of the student. What is the certification I will receive after I pass the test? After you have challenged the CONTENT exam (101&102 or its equivalent 103) you will be eligible to start looking for a Bilingual Teacher position Early Childhood to 4th grade. What is content area: Content means, (materias) for example, Math, Social Studies, Language Arts, Science, Health, Fine Arts etc. These are the contents of the 101 exam. What is the difference between the 101-102 and 103?The 101 exam contains only the CONTENT areas, and the 102 contains the bilingual education area only. Therefore, anyone who?passes the 101 can only teach in a general/monolingual classroom Prekindergarten to 4th grade. And, until you?pass the 102 exam, you cannot be "HIGHLY QUALIFED" as "BILINGUAL TEACHER (Spanish)." The 103?exam is a?combination of both the 101 exam and the?102 exam. Please keep in mind that the greatest shortage of teachers is that of "Highly Qualified Bilingual Teachers," NOT regular generalist teachers. Also, "highly qualified bilingual teachers" will have a greater opportunity to be sponsored by a school or school district to process employment visa. We encourage you to look for legal advise of an attorney to discuss your legal status in the United States. Neither Bilingual Educators, Teacher Builder or our staff are legal advisers and cannot provide you with legal advise. How many times can I take the test if I don’t pass it the first time? There is no limit of number of times you can take the exam. However, every time you take it you have to pay the fees. How many exams do I have to take in order to get fully certified? You have to pass the content exam, the TOPT which is the Spanish Oral Proficiency Test and the PPR pedagogy and professional responsibilities.Who is responsible for test registration? You are. Bilingual educators provide you with the user name and password, but you will be responsible for the registrations to all tests. Please make sure that you write down the test registration deadlines. You can register to take the test in paper (PBT) or in computer (CAT). Some tests like the 103 are not available in computer.
