Kitchen / Dining Room Assistant

Employed by: Holwell Primary School

Hours of Duty: 16 hours per week term time

Responsible to: Catering Manager

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To work as part of the lunchtime team, assisting the Catering Manager as required.

MAIN DUTIES

• Working within health and safety guidelines and hygiene regulations.

• Preparation of salad items

• General tasks including washing up

• To serve and assist children in the dining area.

• To work extra hours when needed to cover staff absence.

Conditions of Employment

• The above responsibilities are subject to the general duties and responsibilities contained in the written statement of conditions of employment (the Contract of Employment).

• The postholder is required to support and encourage the school’s ethos and its objectives, policies and procedures as agreed by the governing body.

• To uphold the school’s policy in respect of child protection and safeguarding matters.

• To be subject to all relevant statutory requirements.

• The postholder may be required to perform any other reasonable tasks after consultation.

• To maintain confidentiality as expressed in the school’s staff handbook.

• All staff have an up-to-date understanding of safeguarding children issues and are able to implement the safeguarding children policy and procedure appropriately. Policies are in line with current guidance and procedures.

Performance Management

• You will be line managed by the Catering Manager. Targets are agreed and set in September, monitored half way through the academic year, and reviewed the end of the academic year.
