Board of Directors Meeting

Monday, November 13, 2006

Attendees:

The following board members were present: B. Schnepp, D. Mercik, S. Looney, S. Pallotti, J. Dion, H. LaBarre, K. Wagner, S. Dallaire and M. Guzzi

The following guests were also in attendance: Ralph Carucci, Joanne Stafford, Mike Voisine, Bill King, Wayne Pare and Bill Clark.

In addition, Ralph Carucci volunteered to assist Scott Looney, Maintenance Coordinator with his responsibilities.

Minutes

Dave Mercik reviewed the minutes from the October 10, 2006 meeting. The minutes were approved.

Field Improvements

The status of field improvements were discussed along with payment of those expenses. The repairs to the Christian Fields are completed and sod has been installed on the B, Yankee Gas and Farm fields. The total cost of the sod was $2,000. $1,600 of the cost will be paid for by the League. The Town of Suffield is using the remaining pallets of sod and will pay for the remaining $400. The labor was provided by the Town of Suffield

The safety chain link fence has been installed for the Bruce Park softball field dugout areas. The total cost for materials was approximately $1,200. The League will pay for $600 and the Town of Suffield will pay for $600. The labor was provided by the Town of Suffield.

All individuals present agreed to register their children for the 2007 season at the next meeting. These funds along with the funds currently in the account should be sufficient to pay for the improvements. The League could also collect team and sign sponsorship fees just prior to the end of the calendar year, if necessary and on a selective as needed basis.

2007 Fees

The Board agreed that the 2007 registration fees will be $85 per child or $160 per family.

The price for sponsorships (team and sign) was discussed. Currently, team sponsorship fees are $150 per team and sign sponsorships fees are $175 per sign, plus an additional $175 per sign for painting and materials during the first year. There was a suggestion that the League should increase both the team and sign sponsorship fees for 2007. This will be discussed in more detail at the next meeting.

2007 Registration

The registration dates for 2007 will be January 6 and January 20 in the Suffield Middle School cafeteria, from 9:00 am Noon. Volunteers will be needed.

Board members can register their children at the December 4 Board meeting.

2007 Player Evaluations

The following dates were suggested and agreed to for player evaluations:

March 3 and 10, 2007, Noon to 4:00 pm. March 17, 2007 could also be used if necessary. Maureen Guzzi suggested February 10 for softball player evaluations.

Other Key Dates for 2007

Opening Day will be Sunday April 29, 2007.

The Joey Parise Tournament will be held May 5, 2007 with May 12, 2007 as the rain date.

The Parents Fundraising Dance will be May 5, 2007. These dates were subsequently suggested based on some important information obtained by Holly LaBarre, including availability of the Suffield High School gym and conflicts with First Communion at Sacred Heart Church.
