SUBJECT: Centralized Examination Station Selections

The Port of Chicago has finalized its Centralized Examination Station (CES) selections under the re-selection process set forth in 19 CFR 118. These facilities will be operational on October 4, 1999.

On February 26, 1999, the Port of Chicago Pipeline 99-10 was issued advising the trade community of the reopening of the CES selection process and that all applications should be received by April 30,1999. This pipeline also invited the public to submit any relevant written comments related to CES operations in the port. Following the initial 60 day "open season" for the submission of applications, Port of Chicago Pipeline 99-13, dated May 19, 1999, informed the trade community of the nine applicants and published their rate schedules. This pipeline again invited comments from the public.

Based on the review of all applications under the criteria set forth in 19 CFR 118.11, the public comments, and an extensive survey of each applicant's facility, the following Customs Container Stations have been selected as Centralized Examination Stations.
